Icon5 Question

Hi ladies!!
I have more "newbie" questions. When I saw my dr. the other day, I got a very brief, very confusing explanation of how I am supposed to do all of this. They recommended Clear, Blue, Easy OPK. I've been trying to do my homework and research every little detail about what I'm going to be facing from here on out, including OPKs. So here is my question: Can I use an Ovulation Monitor the same way I can use the regular OPK? What are the pros and cons? Some say you can use them while on Femara, and some say you can not. I wish I could have gotten a more in detail explanation of the process at my dr.'s office, but I got the basics... enough to know how to take my meds. I am still waiting for AF, so I can start taking FE. But, if I have to order some OPK or monitor online, I want to make sure I have enough time to have it shipped. Any advice or information you all have would be much, much, much appreciated!!!

Oh... On a lighter note, my DH has been great since we got the news that I'd be starting FE!!! I asked him if I could be silly the night we found out, and asked him if he would "talk to my ovaries... to coax out the eggies." I know, I know.... dorky. But I wanted him to feel involved, because I knew he was excited!! He poked and prodded my belly and told the "eggies to come out of there and stop hiding!!" I expected it to be a one time thing, just something funny between the two of us, but every night since, he has repeated the process. It means a lot to me, but I think deep down it means more to him to have a special "job." He's great.

So, the wait goes on, but hopefully the meds will work and I'll O this month. Prayers and tons BFP wishes to us all!!

Hi Kaycee! I have used both the opk's and the ovulation monitor and they are pretty similar. I just ended up using the regular opk's, sometimes i used clear blue easy and other times i would use first response. A bit of advice though, i dont know what CD's you are scheduled to take Femara, but u should wait at least a day or 2(after taking your last Femara) before you start using the opk's (i got test happy and started testing too soon) and i got a false positive for "O". That was back when i wasnt real sure what day was "O" day lol. Femara does work for some, im pregnant with a Femara baby! (My DH had low motility so i had 2 give him shots of hCG for 3 months but it was all worth it!) Thats cute what you said about your DH...Keep up the playfulness and good luck to both of you!

Thanks Carolyn! Congrats on your Femara miracle!!
My DH is going to have a SA soon, he had an "ify" one a couple of years ago, but we never really pursued infertility treatment until recently. They're not sure, but they think the last SA he took might not have been accurate. Hoping and praying this one turns out well, but if it doesn't... we'll do what we have to. We know that I am not ovulating due to PCOS, and if his analysis turns out to be low, we'll go from there.

Again, congrats on your little miracle!! What an awesome Christmas present!!!

Your welcome and thank you! My DH's SA was ok til after his open heart surgery then for some reason his last SA came back with the low motility but the hCG did great! I am a pcos patient too. My dr put me on 2000mg of metformin(Glucophage), that plus the Femara and DH's shots of hCG and NUMEROUS prayers worked wonders! You usually get your bfp when your least expecting it! I was right on the verge of calling it quits and found out i was pregnant! Good luck on your ttc journey and i hope its a really short journey! There are quite a few ladies on here im praying for to get their bfp's, i'll add you! Baby dust to all!!

Thanks! Well, all i really know is that the hCG makes them much better swimmers, kinda gives them a 'super-boost!' It took about 2-3 months of me giving DH his shots(which is no big deal). I would give him 3 shots one wk, 2 shots the next and keep alternating back and forth per dr's orders. We had to work with viagra also because DH also has low testosterone(which kinda goes hand in hand with the low motility). The viagra didnt always work so i DEFINITELY thank God(everyday) for our miracle baby! I hope i helped ya out. Just out of curiosity, has your DH been referred to a urologist? My DH was sent to one and he gave DH a Rx for the hCG. It's worth it!! Good luck!
