Default is it possible?

hi ladies its me again....ever since i got the trigger yesterday i have been analyzing every twinge. i took an OPK that i already knew was going to be positive last night and still woke up this morning to do my fertility monitor. (my monitor didnt pick up anything though) which makes me worry.

i was wondering if it was possible for someone to get the hcg shot and not ovulate? im so worried that will be me especially since my monitor didnt even move me to high fertility yesterday. today at 1:00 was 24hrs. im sure we will BD before bed tonight and tomorrow.

i guess what im not understanding (and i know that its not an exact science) is how this whole process can go wrong. me being the eternal pessimist wants to prepare myself for the worst. could the follicle rupture and there be no egg? could the egg and sperm miss one another?

also im worried cause aside from being real tired and having a little crampy but more gassy feelings i havent felt ovulation yet. sorry for being so long winded and for being so needy. i just cant help but think that if things wouldnt have went so wrong this past winter i would be holding a baby right now.

Hi Bebedu,

I completely understand your anxiety. Try your best to relax and believe the meds will work. I know it’s so much harder said then done. I know I am exactly like you....I question everything and I drove my hubby and my self CRAZY....and well that has not overly stopped. This journey is sooo hard with extreme ups and downs. Try to hang in there.

Now I am not expert.....especially since I only did the cycle once and it work for us. But from my understanding of how the trigger shot works is this: You take the shoot and should ovulate 24 to 36 hours later......sooo testing with the sticks would of show positive due to the hormone but the monitor may not as it could simply be too early. I know for me I took the shoot on a Sat morning and I did not ovulate till Sunday night / Monday morning.

I would make sure you BD'ed / BD the day of the shoot, and then the next two days / nights. The sperm can last in the body for a long time as long as the environment is compatible (I am not sure how to know if it is.....but personally we just hoped it was). That is why you need to BD for more then one day; that way there will be sperm in the fallopian tubes waiting for your eggie to be set free.

I have not heard or read anything about not ovulating after taking a trigger shot....I would maybe asked your Doc. But I honestly do not think you need to worry about it not happening....I really think it was just too soon for it to show on your monitor.

Do not be sorry girly....that is why we are here......I hope this has helped. If you have any other questions please let me know and I would be more then happy to try and help you out.

GOOD LUCK....I hope this is your CY!!

thanks for responding with the encouraging words.

i have a couple of questions for you. when you triggered what was your follicle size? and did you have any other signs of ovulation such as cramps, tiredness, increase cervical mucus, increased sex drive.

im just sad i guess because i was soooo excited that after trying since april i finally had a mature follicle and i thought wow this is my chance. its looking bleak because of my lack of symptoms. when i conceived on my own before i had all of the above symptoms and now nothing. blah this stinks

Hi Bebedu.... I have been on meds for 3 months and I have never had a positive O test. That is why they gave me the trigger shot. So, I think you are probably ok. My doc told me that if we O and miss it or do not O at all, the trigger will induce it so that we know exactly when it will happen. My follie was 22 when I took the shot this month and last month and was 22.5 when I had the iui this month.

One of the major side effects of Ovidrel (according to my pharmacist) is that it can cause extreme paranoia and irratability. So what you are feeling is totally normal! Hang in there, and anytime you have a questions or just need to vent... WE ARE ALL HERE FOR YOU~

Good luck!!!

Oh yeah... one more thing... I have never had anything that resembled O symptoms either. My doc said that some people just don't.

I hope that all helps you! And thanks for letting me know that I am not alone too~

Hi,

I honestly do not remember my follicle size....I just know one was mature and one was slightly small but my doc said it might catch up by the time we did the trigger shoot.

I do not O on a regular basis due to my Endometriosis so that is why we went with the Femara and the Trigger shot. The shot forces your body to O and I know it does not happen rate away....it generally takes 36 hours like I mentioned but it can take up to 48. I personal only get AF like cramps when I O and I did on the Sunday night and Monday morning. I know there are LOTS of women who do not get any kind of symptom. I did not notice a change in my CM or my sex drive. I find both those signs for me are hit and miss....sometimes I get one or the other or both with the cramps but this months I only got the cramps.

Like Mary-Beth said the shot does cause some crazy emotions like paranoia and irritability....I too had both. It was the hardest month of my life and I ended up having a complete melt down the Tuesday after my injection. I completely lost it at work and was a crying mess.....I ended up cry at the drop of a hat and being extremely paranoid for the whole 2WW. Plus once I tested I obsessed for 4 days (as I tested on a Friday and my doc was off…so I had to wait till Monday to find out for sure) if I really had a or if it was a false POS!!! I ended up taking 5 tests in 4 days and still though they were possible wrong till I actually heard the words from the Doc.

I truly believe the med's are working for you especial due to the emotional symptoms you are feeling. I know this is hard....especially when its something you want so very desperately. Try to hang in there!!! This is a hard hard road to travel but you are not alone. Please let us all know if we can help in any way.

Please post more if you have any other questions.....GOOD LUCK and try to keep your chin up!!! You are in my thoughts and I hope this CY is yours!!! Let us know how you are progressing!!
