Icon5 Ovulation- Does anyone know when....?

Does anyone know when how many days after you finish your last pill of Femara that ovulation is supposed to occur?

With Clomid, Fertility Friends says that "in most cases, you can expect ovulation within 5-9 days of your last dose..."

Is it the same for Femara? Does anyone remember or want to share what their doctor's have told them? Or personal experience?

Heidi- I am not sure if there is a set time.. I think it is probably different with everyone. I know my RE would monitor me (b/c I was doing IUI's) and when the follicles got large enough we would trigger (shot of ovidrel) to start ovulation.. then 36 hours later did the IUI.

I always O'd either at my normal time (but I didn't have O problems) or the day before. Will your doc not give you a trigger shot?

Sarah- Thanks for your input! It probably is different with everyone!

Shannon- I am just seeing an ob-gyn. I don't know if they can do the trigger shots, but then again, they have never mentioned it! I don't know if it's because I am a Tricare (military insurance) patient or what, but it seems like I'm always just handed pills so they can brush off their hands and get rid of me. This ob-gyn I'm seeing now is having me do this cycle with Femara and one more; if I don't get pregnant, he wants me to make an appointment with him and he'll see about getting me a referral to an RE.

If I could just a see a doctor who really cares!!! I don't think it'd take too long to figure some secret combination that will make me ovulate. That seems to be my main problem.

Aggghhhh! You've opened a can of worms! LOL I'm just beyond frustration about the whole doctor/referral/Tricare thing! Besides getting preggy, the one thing I want most is to see an RE!!

Heidi: I think it is different with everyone and also with every cy although i have been "O" right around CD 17/18(this last cy it was on cd 17). If you're using the "O" test sticks then it should show you a "+" or 2 lines pretty soon! I poas every morning as soon as i got up, starting from cd 10 until a few days after i got the 2 lines(plus taking my bbt every morning). Hope that helps ya out!! Let me know...

Heidi,

First of all ~ sweetie. I know it must really be frustrating to be seeing a doctor that you feel isn't sensitive to your plight. There are lots of them out there. I've heard that the red tape of military medical care can really be a pain in the tail! It makes it so much harder when the doctor just gives you medicine and doesn't monitor to see what it's doing - if anything - to your body. Some of them just assume that if one works for one person, it will work for everyone the same way. But that's just not how this IF monster works.
I will pray that you either get your or your referral to an RE. They will certainly monitor you. I went through almost 3 full years of IF treatment w/monitoring and IUIs, 3 m/cs and finally got referred to an RE and the first thing they did was mega testing and found that my "problem" would never have been solved with a fertility pill. It was all about an auto-immune response my body was having to my babies. I had a Rheumatoid Factor that was a mere 2 points above normal and that was causing my body to attack DH's sperm and/or the babies. Once that was found, I was started on a steroid to equalize the RF and in 2 weeks I was pregnant with Ava. They kept me on it for 20 weeks and she was born healthy and happy. So the RE will get to the bottom of things, if you have to go that far. Love ya! Hope that gives you will to keep pushing!

Shannon- Thanks for all your kind words! I must just need a pep-talk every now and then! For the most part, I'm feeling pretty optimistic about getting SOMETHING that I've been wanting. Either a BFP or a referral to an RE! LOL Atleast I know that if I don't get preggy after these last two Femara cycles, I will have a doctor on my side (hopefully) trying to get me hooked up with a referral.

That's amazing that you went through almost 3 years of IF treatment before you were referred to an RE! Sheesh! And that after they had discovered the Rheumatoid Factor (2 points above normal!?!?), you wound up pregnant in 2 weeks.

It gives me hope! And makes me want to see an RE even more! LOL I would do whatever testing they wanted me to do....I would feel SO much better if I had someone trying to figure out what's going on so they could help me get pregnant! In a way, I'm anxious to finish up these two cycles, but then again, I would much rather get a BFP and not have to go see an RE!

But anyway, thanks for listening and helping me feel a little better about the whole thing.

Carolyn- I'm diggin' the new siggy! Very cute! Do you like it? I'm already wanting a new one, but I think I better wait! LOL

So you take your OPKs in the morning, right after you wake up, with FMU (first morning urine)? I've read that your LH surge usually begins in early morning when you are still sleeping and may not be apparent in your first morning urine. Hmmmmm, but makes me wonder since it's worked for you!

In the directions for my OPKs that I bought, it recommended that you limit fluid intake for approximately two hours before testing and to not urinate for three to four hours before testing. So I've been dying of thirst and doing the dooby-dance, because I've got to go , for about three to four hours a day for the last week or so! It's driving me bonkers! Just thinking that there's gotta be a method to the madness!

Heidi: Hey girl! Diggin my new siggy, huh? TY! Me too, havent had it long at all and im ready for another one, lol. Guess im just goofy Cant help it, it was fun just seeing what they might come up with...help, im a siggy addict! I kinda wish she would have left the color in the pic though, i LOVE color! b&w pics arent really my thing but the siggy still turned out good!
Ya, i always do my OPK's first thing in the morning(well, after i take my bbt!) starting on cd 10 and keep poas til after i know for sure that i "O". I can hold my that long, my gosh, my eyes would turn yellow! Nope, cant see myself doing it! lol, im sleepy...can ya tell?!? If you decide to do the OPK's in the a.m. then sooner or later you'll see the LH surge(or anytime of the day really.) I just do the a.m. because its easier for me and i always gotta go when i wake up and since its been in there awhile, i figure i might as well use FMU to see if the LH has 'built up'(the closer you get to "O"). Mine has always been pretty apparent with the FMU and once you get either a "+" or 2 dark lines you have anywhere from 24-36 hrs to bd! This last time DH and i bd'ed as soon as i saw the 2 dark lines and kept that up for 3 days, lol. I had to laugh when i read the "Method to the madness!" Me and my best friend were talking about that awhile back and i said, "Yep, i found a method to my madness! My 'home version' of AI!!" She thought it would be one for the books if it actually worked(and it did) but resulted in a chemical pregnancy Anyways, Good luck with your OPK's and dooby-dancing for now.
