Hi, I just found this board, when googling. I have 2 children, 3 and 5 and am TTC #3. I tested this morning, and BFN. I am not using meds at this point, but did have an ultrasound on day 16, and was instructed to test today. I'm on day 33 of my normally 30 day cycle. I guess the stress is delaying things.

DS (child 1) was conceived on first cycle with Gonal-F + IUIs and DD (child 2) was conceived with first cycle with Clomid + IUI. I had my IUD removed over 2 mos ago, and was certain that I would be able to conceive on my own this time, but I am very discouraged at this point. My body is still ovulating very late, and doing the same things it's done when TTC the other 2 children.

I called my doctor's office today and they said that they can give me Provera to induce my period on day 35, and I can choose to start Clomid or Femara, if I like. I would much rather do this "naturally," since I REALLY don't want to have twins, with 2 children already, so I am VERY NERVOUS about using any fertility drugs. However, I don't want to be on this stressful infertility rollercoaster for (possibly) months either, since it's already established that I have issues with TTC.

My doctor's office told me that Femara has less side effects and less chance of multiple pregnancy. Is this true about less occurance of multiples? Anyone have any stats? Please tell me your positive or negative experiences with Femara . . . I know nothing about it at this point. Why would you or wouldn't you choose Femara over Clomid?

I don't have much time to make this decision, if I'm going to decide to do a cycle, when I get AF!

I've done both Clomid and Femara and MUCH prefer Femara. I had hot flashes and some mood swings on Clomid, plus it didn't make me ovulate, so my RE moved me on to Femara. I've had no s/e, plus I Ovulate on it! I also like the fact that it leaves your system so quick, where Clomid stays in your body for weeks if not longer. I believe the chance of multiples is about the same as Clomid, about 5-10%. If Clomid worked for you though, and you only had one child, it might be good to do the same.

I have been on both Clomid and Femara and both were successful in follie growth, however Femara always only produced 1 follicle, which is great as multiples is not at the the top of my list either, what i prefer about Femara was that my moods were bearable, it thickened the my lining whereas Clomid thinned it, and like i said i did not have follicle over stimulation. But each drug effects everyone differently, and in the end it did not end up being my "recipe" i need to take the Gonal F route....But it sounds great that you seem to respond well to meds, good luck with #3 keep us posted on what you decide to do...Go with your gut feeling i say!

I was on Clomid in 2002 & 03 and It didn't work for me. It thinned my lining to much. I was put on Gonal F, HCG Shot and IUI and conceived dd in 2004 on the second round of meds. In late 2006 and the beginning of 2007 we started to try for #2. After a few months of naturally trying I went back to the RE and he wanted to try Femara before anything. Femara didn't thin out my lining like Clomid. But after two cycles of Femara it just didn't work with my body. I was bleeding and spotting way to much. So my RE put me on Follitism and the HCG shot w/ IUI.
Also like you I would rather not have mulitiples. If it happened, it happens but I do get monitored all the time. Like my first round of Follitism they cancelled my IUI because of two many mature follicles.
With Femara there are many great success stories. It just wasn't the drug that worked for me.
