Icon11 New here!

Hello ladies! I have been lurking here a while and finally decided to post. I have been trying to conceive for a year and a half but just started Femara 2 months ago. I had a miscarrige at 8 weeks in November, it was devestating. We had tried for a year and our dream was crushed. I have 2 girls who are 5 and 10 and had absolutly no problem conceiving. My OB thinks I have PCOS and I am now on Metformin and the Femara. Actually, I do Femara days 3-7, estrogen days 10-12 and Prometrium days 18-30. I am thinking of doing the trigger shot but my husband thinks this is too much. I have had scans on the Femara and my follicles are good size. I just can't figure out what is going on. Each month is a dissapointment. I have heard of Femara working for alot of people the first month, what is wrong with me? Sorry for the long post....I am really glad to have found this board for support and feedback.....any thoughts would be welcomed!

Melissa

Hi Melissa and Welcome!
Don't feel bad, Femara works differently for different people! Some get pregnant right away, others, like me it takes time, so don't give up. Plus, your body has already shown it can get pregnant, so it is likely just a matter of time. I understand the impatience. We tried for 1 year natural, then another year on Femara before getting pregnant, but its worth it in the end. With dd it only took us 4-5 months naturally, so you just never know. There are lots of great successes on this board, so feel free to pick everyone's brain!

WELCOME!!!! You will find all the ladies here are truly amazing and very supportive. Some of us still hang around to offer support and because simple we can not leave or at least I can't....I love this group of ladies and they have truly helped through some very dark moments.

Do not give up!!! Everyone is different and you will find your miracle recipe. Make sue you do what is right for you and know we are here to help and answer any and all questions. I am currently expecting our first and she is our little Femara miracle. I used the trigger shoot and I have to say I LOVED it as you did not have to guess when you O’ed. BUT again you guys need to do what is right for both of you and what you are comfortable with. I tried on and off for 6 years to get here and I am a HUGE advocate of Femara.

Let us know if we can help in any way!! Hang in there!!! I wish you every success

I'm pregnant now and it happened on a "break cy" Well break from some meds, but not from Metformin, so I'm a BIG Metformin fan

Welcome Melissa! I just finished my second month with Femara, but missed O this month so I'm going to keep trying. Everyone is right! All bodies handle the drug differently so just be patient (unlike me!!!) and it will happen! Good Luck!

WELCOME!! You have found an awesome support system here! I am truly sorry for your m/c, I know how heartbroken that can leave you feeling. I too am on Metformin 15OOmgs. I tried 1000mgs and 5 mgs of Femara but my eggie was not mature only 15.5 so I had to add follistim injections into the mix. It has worked like a charm but I couldn't STAY pregnant. To make a long story short I also have a autoimmune disease that was attacking my pregnancies and causing my to m/c. So I will need either heparin or levenox and a baby aspirin a day so that my body doesn't attack the tissue. Sorry to rant... but it is great new that your follicles are growing and you can get pregnant. I know waiting is really hard when it comes to TTC but just try to take it cycle at a time and know that you are here to support you. Any questions you have feel free to ask away. You can tell by my siggy that I too have PCOS and have been through the ringer
Best of wishes to you
Nessa

Hi!! I keep wanting to post--but then I forget--then I remember like while in the shower or in bed in the middle of the night when I can't sleep!! lol!1 Anyway I am glad you came out of lurkdom. When I got pg with #3 it was a first shot with Femara BUT I had two cycles of clomid before that--so I wonder how often that is the case. I know this time with ttc--almost a year this time but really longer than that but I have only had my cycles for about 9 mo(I never get ppaf back until 2 years pp when nursing)---I am on the end of month two of femera and I am pretty sure it too is a dud. Unfortunately!! So I too am so discouraged and I too had a m/c at the end of Nov beginning of Dec and it was horrible. I have been doing the trigger shots each month--I will say that it is nice to know you will O but I have yet to have my own lh surge--before getting the surge nor have I had any good ew like I normally do when I o on my own(I also usually get a good lh surge on my own too). My doc keeps saying I am older now--34--and that will effect how the drug works on me. I don't know--I use to think it was the miracle drug but now ... well it is making me make good eggs so that is something. Anyway I just did not want you to think you were alone--in fact many of our situations are similar. I do hope that you have a good cycle--and I don't think the hcg is any "more" than what you are already doing. Oh and another positive of doing the hcg shot is that it is suppose to help increase your progesterone--so that is definitely a nice side effect. I will say that the shot I get is pretty painful--and would be worth it if I could just get pg from it--kwim?

Thanks so much for all your support and kind words. I am so excited to have found this board. It is nice to talk to others who are going through the same thing. I am now on cycle day 28 of my 2nd round of Femara and I took a test and it was negative. Uggg... Congrats to all of you who are expecting, it gives me hope. And for those of you who are still trying, I feel your frustration. But I have great hope it will happen for us!!
