Default hi girls....

just wanted to pop in and say hey. i went to the doctor again this past monday and all is well still with the baby. heartbeat at 168bpm. i get my big u/s the week of valentines day so that is something exciting to look forward to.

she wrote me a script to get the triple screening done. (the one that indicates downs) i have opted not to do it. as you all know when dealing with infertility the whole process is stressful enough without adding another log to the fire. nearly everyone i have talked to knows someone (close family memeber or friend) who has received a false positive on the test. with that knowledge and knowing that i wouldnt terminate the pregnancy anyway i decided it wasnt the option for me.

im still praying for all of you. and im rooting for you Lou!!!

Good to hear from you Johnna. I KWYM about the testing. Mine would come back with potential false positives due to my age and my doc recommended with my last PG that I just opt out of them to save myself the worry. I had an amnio with Ava and will be having one with this baby just to verify if anything is wrong so I can prepare myself emotionally. I was supposed to have my amnio yesterday but my placenta is covering the front of the uterus, and the doc couldn't safely get the needle in without going through the placenta and he didn't want to put the baby at risk by doing that. So I had to reschedule for the fourth of Feb to give my uterus and baby time to grow and the placenta to shift out of the way. I'm having my Big U/S that same day to try to see what we're having. We tried yesterday but the cord was right between the legs. LOL

BTW, what is your EDD? Can't wait to hear about your Big U/S when it gets here. You had better update us. Will you be finding out the gender?

shannon, i definitely want to try and find out what i am having during the ultrasound in feb. although i have had the notion all the way through that its a boy so i will be shocked if they say anything else but absolutely thrilled with both of course. the newest EDD they gave me was 7/6/08. but i suppose that will change a little too that day. since you have done this before i was wondering what else they will look for anatomically during the ultrasound?

thanks for your well wishes lou! miracles do happen and my baby is proof.

They will measure things like the femur, across the abdomin, the head, etc... They will check the kidneys, liver, and other visable organs just to make sure things are developing normally too. All this will help them get an idea of how big the baby will probably end up being and the overall health of the baby. They will also check to see if baby is doing it's practice breathing yet - amniotic fluid in and out which strengthens and helps the lungs to mature. HTH.

Great to know that you and the baby are OK!!! I had my big u/s yesterday and was really neat all that measurements, the tech was so nice she explained every one and since it took almost 30 min we got to see the baby moving a lot!
