Icon7 Here's my update - another long post :)

Hi Ladies,
Thanks so much for your words of encouragement in my last post. This board is so amazing as are all of you!!!
So, here is my update. Saw the doctor today and once again my follies are doing absolutely nothing. No big surprise. She even asked me if I took my Femara (I assumed she was joking) as she is so shocked that it didn't work this time when it worked like a charm last time. Anyways, she gave me the option of trying Clomid (which I have tried several times in the past and it has never worked) or injections (which I have also tried in the past and it caused severe hyper-stimulation). I opted for the injections (Puregon) at a very very small dose and had the first one while I was there (did it ever hurt!). I take them for 3 days and go see her again Saturday morning. I assume these will do something as I responded very strongly the last time... I just hope I don't respond too strongly. Oh and did I mention the risk of multiples which given our history with a preemie we really want to avoid...?
ALSO - thank you for your advice about the slow release Metformin. She didn't know much about it but looked into it while I was there and found the name - Glumetza - and prescribed that so I start tonight. I am SO relieved about this as I seriously cannot handle regular Metformin at all and so just wasn't taking it (bad, I know). So I start that tonight. She didn't mention anything about taking it into my pregnancy but I will definitely ask her. Are there any risks?
I asked her how long she'll let this cycle go (as I am on CD18 today) and she said "until you ovulate" so that was good news as I wasn't sure if we had to throw in the towel at a certain threshold.
So, the drama continues
Thank you all again so much for your incredible support. I means a lot and helps more than you know.
Kim

You will get there girlie, hang in there. I am sure you will see some action on Saturday. Sorry to hear about the injections hurting (THAT STINKS!). I have done follistim and bravelle with microfine needles, and it didn't hurt a bit. Did you have to use a big needle? I hope the shots get easier and less painful for you. I also do mine in the tummy. The Metformin I am on is generic for glugophageER. It is also on the four dollar list at Walmart I have heard of the name of the medicine you are on. I hope it works out for you. Just remember if it is similar to Met and not ER it may cause some tummy issues. My re keeps women with pcos on Met for the first tri, because it greatly reduces the risk of m/c by like 50% according to my re. Just with pcos alone we have a higher rate of m/c like 40% higher than a typical woman. Just a precaution I suspose. Goodluck on Saturday hopefully I will going in for my baseline u/s on Saturday or Sunday!! *FINGERS CROSSED** for both of us!

The needles I'm using are regular syringes. When I did it myself this morning in my stomach I sat down and found it didn't hurt as much. It kind of freaks me out to stick myself with a needle but I did it!
I started the slow release metformin last night and I don't feel sick at all today - YAHOO! I just feel really tired and headachey. No twinges yet in my ovaries so not sure when they'll start kicking in. We shall see!
GOOD LUCK to you as well this weekend!!! I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Bless your heart! Having to use a syringe, OUCH. The second one didn't hurt as bad when you sat down and did it so that is really good! I have heard that icing down the injections site can help as well. You get used to it eventually and it just becomes easier. Good luck to hope I can't wait to hear about those growing follicles!
Yeah for not feeling sick on the ER!! That is awesome, stick with it!!

Thanks girls!
I know - even my big tough DH said he didn't think he could stick himself with these needles. LOL - I just close my eyes and do it - I am getting used it.... kind of.
I do hope this does something as I don't know how many cycles I can do like this. I so expected Femara to work this time which is a lot easier to take than needles AND I expected a nice short cycle like last time but now this cycle is looking like a long one... My spirits are better today. Yesterday I felt quite defeated and tired. I guess we all can just put one foot in front of the other and keep going!
Have a lovely weekend everyone!
Kim
