Hey, SheKnows Guest - we need you! The SheKnows TTC boards aren't going anywhere - but perhaps you'd consider helping us grow our new TTC message boards at talk.PregnancyAndBaby.com? We want to be able to provide even more resources and support to hopeful moms, which means giving SK's sister community a little extra love. Please check out the new P&B boards here - and thanks!
I had my first OB appointment last week and I was waiting to have all my blood test results back before posting. The appointment went very well. Everything is on track and I all my blood work have come back really good except for my Iron level. I have been very concerned about this one result as I have always struggled with this since my Gastric By-pass 3 and a bit years ago. My level is 1 point below the normal PG range (this is REALLY actually good…it has come up a bit….5 full points actually) - The doctor advised us that it is not low enough to worry about overly and we do not have to do anything special other than continuing to take my parental vitamins. He is going to keep a close eye on this level and test it frequently throughout my PG to make sure it does not drop any farther. What I find odd is that my Folic levels are excellent....I though they went hand in hand but the numbers do not seem to match. BUT I am very happy about that as I was worrying about those being too low as well and causing development issues.
We did not get to hear the heart beat this time but at my next appointment we will....I can NOT wait!!!!
I will be getting my next U/S at around 18 weeks. I am a bit sad because they do not tell you the sex of the baby in the town we are in So we may end up having to wait....ARG!!!!
The other think my doc is worried about due to my gastric by-pass is that I am not getting enough calories into my body. I need to be eating a minimum of 1600 per day but better yet and what he would prefer is for me to be eating 2000 per day. I am going to have to work really hard on this. I know I can hit it some days but most I am going to struggle.
I will post another update as things progress Here is my last week belly pic....HOLY man....I am going to be huge if this continues....LOL. BUT I have only gained 1lb sooo all is well!!!
