Default femara and hcg trigger

hi girls this is my first time posting on this site. i usually post over on webmd but the ladies over there seem to know more about clomid than femara.

this is my first cycle on 2.5mg of femara after two failed cycles of clomid 50mg and 100mg. i went in for my day 10 follie scan and was surprised to find that i had a nice follie at 18mm so my doc had me go in today and get the hcg trigger shot. so im real excited about the possiblities there but know that it doesnt necessarily mean a BFP.

anyway my question is i have had some brown spotting today (day 11) and wondered if that was normal/OK for a femara cycle and will it hurt me any in achieving my goal this cycle?

anyother tips that someone in the same situation can give would really be appreciated.

Hi. I can't answer your spotting question (I hope someone can) but I can tell you I'm in the same boat. I did my first femara cycle this month and today got my hcg shot! I can't test, per the doctor, until Sept 15 or I may get a false positive.... its going to be a tough 2 weeks! Let me know how it goes... I hear great things and my doctor has had a lot of success with putting PCOS and other infertile patients on femara....she said usually it works for her patients within the first three cycles! I'm hoping it works out. We have a femara & ovidrel success person on the boards---hopefully she'll stop in and say hello

thanks for responding so quickly....its nice to know that i have someone to wait out the 2 weeks with.

so when did your doc tell you to have sex? mine told me to do it last night and then come in today for the shot and then do it again tomorrow morning.

it will sure be torture to wait that long especially since i will leave for vacation that day and wont be able to get to the doctors for a while.

thanks again for responding hope to talk to you soon.

I had one 18mm follicle on Monday and one 13.5 that "might" catch up so they said today, tomorrow, and Friday for BD. We did on Monday also incase I ovulated before the shot. September 15th.... cannot come soon enough!

Greetings,

I only had to do one CY with Femara and a trigger shot and it was a SUCCESS!!!! I truly hope both of you get your this CY!!! Keep us all posted.

As for your question....I never got any brown spotting but I know lots of woman can during implantation. When you say day 11, is that cd11 or dpo11? If its dpo11 it could very well be implantation spotting. If it is cd11 I am not really sure what it is....it could be due to bd'ing or maybe due to the ultrasound depending on how sensitive your body is. I do not think it’s a bad sign but if it keeps up I would ask your doc.

With the trigger shoot you defiantly have to be careful not to test too early but for most ppl it is out of your system 10 - 12 days after. They say to give it 14 just to be double sure. I test on cd26, 12dpo which was 13 days after my shoot (I could NOT hold out any longer…LOL) and I got a nice (which was last Friday). Then I tested all weekend and did a total of 5 test up to and including Monday morning....every one was When I called the doc office they said to come in rate away so they could test me and send me for blood work. I still have trouble believe it happened, it’s so very surreal.

After the trigger shot I was told to BD the day of the shoot and the next day with out question. We did that but added an extra day for good measure.

If I can help with any other questions let me know. GOOD LUCK!!!

Sending lots of

Welcome Rahknight and bebedu.

bebedu - Like Amanda said are you 11 days into your cycle or 11 days past ovulation. For me Femara didn't work for me. The first round I started spotting a little through the whole cycle. Then the next round I bled heavy throughout, so my doctor took me off of it. You will just have to watch and see if your follies grow nice a big. But yes you can have a little spotting and it is completely normal.

Welcome!! My doc said that when I would spot brown it was "old blood". He said sometimes when our system is flushing it will be brown. He said that it is nothing to worry about. I hope that helps.
