Default CRAZY DAY!~very long

I really need to vent right now, so please bear with me~ as I try to explain this.
Here it goes...
Today I get a call from my Re's nurse, she said the hosiptal they set up the surgery at was out of my network (insurance) so I would have to pay a $1,000 dedituble instead of a $500 ded. with network providers AND since it was out of network they would only pay 50% instead of the 80% that a hosiptal in my network would pay!! Out of network providers is $4,000 out of pocket, and with network provider its $2,000~WOW what do we even have insurance for!!?? I was in tears because I knew I had to have this surgery done A.S.A.P due to work on the 20th, pain ETC...
She said she would talk to the RE and try to schedule me with Deaconess hosiptal ( which is within network) before work ~~YEAH!!! She called and said we can get you on the 15th of August and save you $2,000 by switching hosiptals (WONDERFUL NEWS!!) I went ahead and cancelled the original appointment on the 11th, and is done so I thought, and I saved a BUTTLOAD OF $... Then BAM the nurse calls again after cancelling my surgery on the 11th and said my RE's schedule is booked and they cannot get me in on the 15th. It would have to be September the 6th! I called my Boss to talk to her about the surgery and time off from work even though I would only techinally be back to work for about two weeks before I needed 2 possibly 3 days off from work the surgery. Surgery would be on Thursday so I would need off Thurs and Friday and maybe EVEN Monday (depending) My boss has been through IF and she is very understanding but on the flip side the company is not so understanding my boss said that even though I have worked there a year, each year we come back after summer break is a new contract and we HAVE to wait 90 days before taking any personal or sick days and if not that would count against me, which I could not take that risk and 90 days would also put the surgery off until NOVEMBER. I was very leary about taking this time off work two weeks after returning, because last year a women I work with her had her mom pass away very unexpectally, and she took a week off from work, she was passed her 90 days, and used her personal and sick days and she was fired, due to the amount of time she took off work, of course the company didn't say this was the reason, but we all knew it was (my supervisor told me this)!! I knew now that doing the surgery in September was not an option due to work and waiting until November was def. not going to happen. I then called the nurse back and said to go ahead and schedule me for the 11th of August and she said that she had already booked that too. I then got VERY UPSET b/c I would not had cancelled the one on the 11th if she hadn't told me she could get me in a different hosiptal within my network on the 15th, she then told me there was nothing she could do!! I immediately called back and asked to speak with the RE and explained the situation to the Re and he said that the nurse never should have told me that the 15th of August was open without checking with him, and then scheduling someone else on the 11th. He told me I could do the surgery on the 11th if I wanted it and he would have to cancel the other persons surgery it would just cost me $2,000 more. Of course I had no choice ... I thought about it and came to the decision if I put it off until November and in the mean time had to go to the ER due to pain, excessive bleeding etc... That would cost me $500 ded. and the hosiptal fees, PLUS time off work that I do not want to take and the likely hood of this is pretty high. In the long run it would be about the same $, so I am STILL on for this Saturday just more DEBT coming my way. I was so upset and angry, I was sick to my stomach!! Sorry for the book I just needed to get that out. I think the whole situation is SOOOOOOO messed up. I am apolize if this novel is confusing I tried to explain the best I could, hope it makes sense?
Thanks for listening!

Nessa - I Feel for you. I'm so sorry, what a pain. All that only adds to the stress of infertility. With work you can't help it if you have to have surgery. Its one thing if your just going in to get checked out but your in terrible pain and it should be dealt with fast. If you have a doctors note there is nothing they can do about it and there are labor laws to protect you and your job.
If you were in an emergency situation were you had to be hospitalized for a week or two there is no way you would lose your job. This is almost the samething. Your in pain and if I were you I would tell your work everything and the pain and the emergency visit you made and show them a doctors note and get it taken care of sooner then later.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

THE call comes in on my cell phone as I am pulling in the hosiptal parking lot (St. Marys calling!!??) 10 ten minutes before I am to arrive for surgery. Its St. Mary's same day surgery asking if I had spoke to Dr. Gentry (RE)?!?!? No, I said WHY??!! She said well I understand there was a problem with insurance/your network I said yea and explained the WHOLE situation about the nurse and insurance etc... she said well I will call Dr. Gentry b/c I thought he said that he could get you in at Deaconess on the 15th and save $2,000 and once again I explained how the scheduling nurse at the Re's office said no that Dr. Gentry could not get in on the 15th, due to his schedule. So, she called the Re and and in the meantime I went ahead into the hosiptal to speak with the nurses. I got the RE on the phone and he apolizes and say the nurse who schedules their surgeries is "NEW" and saw in the appt. book were he had "office" on the 15th at Deaconess womens hosiptal which is were I was SUSPOSE to have the surgery in the first place, but she called me back and said it wouldn't work~ and then Dr. Gentry said I guess she didn't think about Deaconess Gateway and I can squeeze you in the afternoon on the 15th and that way it won't cost you so much. Don't get me wrong YEAH I am very thankful for that, but since he knew she was new SOMEONE shouldve been looking over what she was scheduling and telling his patients. I SWEAR this has been the craziest thing ever. I know its in God's hand and try to keep telling myself this!! Its just really upsetting b/c my best friend is getting married Oct. 20th and her bachlerotte party was all weekend long at a condo by the lake and I had to cancel last minute due to the surgery, she understands buts it was very sad, not only because I couldn't be there but she couldn't be there for me as well. Then my dad took off work time and half today to come, my MIL was coming, and DH could make it too. Now since its SUSPOSE to be Wed. the 15th in the afternoon Dad cannot make it or MIL and Dh is going to be pushing it to be there (He wouldn't miss it for the world but its still kinda last minute) and now I have no one to sit with after the surgery because everyone will be at work, (Dh is going to try to take off even though is has to take a half day on Wed.) To add to this I got a letter from work saying that its Mandatory we come back on the 17th (Friday BU**SH**) for parent orientation (UH! NOT POSSIBLE! since surgery is now suspose to be Wed) so I have to call my boss and tell her about the surgery and hope and pray she understands and that I am well enough to go back to work on Monday the 20th. We also have another wedding my Dh's cousin on the 18th Sat. that I cannot make now due to all the freaking changing. I am soooooooo stressed its unbelievable. I just need to take a lot of deep breaths and say YEAH we are saving $$ AND it just wasn't God's timing! But you still can't help but scream! AAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH thanks, I feel much better now. So for all my long posts lately I just know that you ladies understand and it helps so much to get it off your chest. Just waiting for the Monday morning... HERE WE GO AGAIN

OH Nessa! I can't believe what you've been going through! That's nuts!
It will all work out in the end, and you'll be glad to have saved all that money, but what a nightmare in the meantime! And they say stress adds to infertility; YA THINK?! What a vicious circle! Even if your family cannot be with you on Wednesday, know that we will be thinking of you and are there in our thoughts!! We women are a strong breed!!!!!!!!!!

I am so wiped out I just had my physical done for work and you would think I just ran a marathon I need a nap. I also just found my dad has hypothyrodism and he had to take some nuclear/radioactive pill and cannot be within five feet of people for 48 hours so he cannot work or be at the hosiptal. GEE WHIZZA.

I'm here. I'm glad to hear the lap surgery is ready to go. Good luck.
I had the nuclear/radioactive pill when I was 22 or 23. But I believe it is for Hyperthyroid not Hypo. My mom has Hypo and my sister and I have the Hyper. Well not anymore. Once you get your thyroid killed with radation it goes to Hypo and you have to take medicine for the rest of your life.

Nessa ~ I'm here. Sorry things were so confusing, but glad you got the appointment with the "in-network" hospital. You are absolutely right, they should never have a new person scheduling for a doctor. Give that girls some files to put away, but not the scheduling book!

Hope the surgery goes well and that you have a nice fresh canvas for a little bean to snuggle into. Do you have a waiting period before you can get back to TTC?

Don't ever worry about getting crap off your chest. When you're stressed you're stressed; and that's what this board is for.

Sorry that this came at a time when I've had to limit my time on the board. I feel awful at not being on top of this when you first posted.

Karen-I know he had to take that radioactive pill then he has to take a pill everyday, so you are proably right. I am sorry that you and your sister and mom had it but at least you've caught it and are on meds for it. Ive heard that it can be genetic, so I guess my next plan will be to get my testing. My grandma also does not have a thyroid either. So, theres proably a good poss. I have it too. Do you have to "fast" when getting b/w for thyroid my gma said you do but my family doc tested mine about a year ago w/o fasting and said everything was fine. But then agian I ve also heard that your levels can change very quickly. Gee, I guess I need to stay off the internet I think I over "educate/read" things too much. So you take meds everyday??

Shannon- I understand completly, I know you would have been one of the first to post if you would have seen it. How is your DH is he being more understanding?? I sure hope so because I hate that you are having to go throught this, its not fair to you. I agree that nurse def. should have been doing some filing, not scheduling or at least someone should of been looking over her work, it so frustrating. I am very glad to be saving the money I just pray that recover is quick and painfree due to work next Monday. As far as TTC again I am unsure, I sure the RE will fill me in after his findings during surgery. Whatever it is I am prepared for at least a ANOTHER month off (sigh). I understand where Heidi was coming from the taking time off and waiting is the pits. I will be back after the surgery when I am feeling better.
Take care,
Love,
Nessa

Hi Nessa,

I wish you the very best of luck tomorrow!!!! Thank you for posting on my thread!!!

I know its anxious going for surgery but the lap procedure is relatively easy depending on how much work they have to do inside. That’s crazy you have to go back to work so soon....just take it easy and look after you self. Lots of rest and do not over strain your body!!!

My thoughts are with you.....talk to ya when you are back.

Amanda

Nessa, Yeah I think it does run in the family my grandma had it to.
Yes I do take Synthroid everyday. I used to get blood test quarterly. But now usually 2 a year. If someone has a messed up thyroid it definatly messes with everything including conceiving. I had the Hyperthroid were everything speeds up. How I found out I had it was because one day I was just sitting round and all of a sudden my heart was racing like a 120 beats a minute. I also lost 20lbs in a couple weeks. And that wasn't good because I was only about 135 to 140 at the time at 5"10. I was tested and thats that. The Hypothroid slows everything down.

Good luck with your surgery today. I will be thinking and praying for you.
