Icon9 cancelled again

Well- Saturday I went for my last u/s and bloodwork of this cycle, expecting to be told that my iui would be Monday and the nurse was very quiet and wouldn't let me see the screen or tell me what my blood levels were from the day before. I think she already knew that the Dr. was going to cancel me again. I went home and waited to call the patient instruction line and when I heard my name it said to call the Dr on call for further instructions. When i did, the instructions were that I was to do nothing, again. I was very upset and sad and heart broken. I have calmed down a lot and actually feel a ton better now that I have had a few days off the meds. I did not hyperstimulate like the last time, so I don't need to go on Birth control. I do have to refrain from relations with DH until there is no risk of pregnancy, which is fine b/c there is a lot of swelling and I am a little uncomfortable anyway. I have to keep a mild activity level too. I am really shocked at how well I am taking this- but I suppose I am past the point of being suprised by setbacks.

SO- MOVING ON.......
I called my Dr. today and he gave me 3 options:
1- higher dose of lupron and lower dose of follistim
2- femara days 3-7 follistim added in somewhere later in the cycle
3- IVF

Has anyone ever done the femara/follistim combo? That is looking the best to me right now- I need to have less drugs in my system. My poor little body cannot handle it. IVF is not really an option for us yet- and my Dr. agreed that first we need to get to the finish line with a less invasive/expensive method.

Any tips?

BIG BIG BIG HUGS Girly!!!!! I know this is so frustrating and had to go through.....I am so happy to hear how well you are taking everything......I think it will help you and your DH if you can be "ok" or as "ok" as possible with how things are going. I hope that makes sense. Also looking to the future and trying to figure out a new plan can really help you emotionally and mentally.....they you are not just doing the same thing and you are able to research other options.....it does help!!!!

I would maybe be like you and be leaning toward changing up the meds completely as the emotional drain you have been going through and the stress it has put on you and your DH can not be helping and maybe the change even a small one will make all the difference in the world. I think I was on lupron at one point before one of my surgery to help keep my endo under control....it was brutal on my emotional state and very expensive......plus I was under the impression you do not want to be on it for long long periods of time.....BUT do not quote me 100%.

I am not up on how follistim works but I know for me the Femara worked really well with my body. And by the sounds of it your RE is going to be monitoring you very closely. I think it might be a GREAT next step. I know the side effects are much easier to handle on Femara. Have you tried it before?

I understand not wanting to go the IVF route yet or at all if possible. I truly hope you find something that will work and you will not have to take that step.

GOOD LUCK girly!!!! I am truly hoping and praying you will find your miracle recipe.....I just know it will happen!!!!! Keep us posted on what route you go and how you are doing with it.

So sorry you are going through all of this... well I understand you wanting to try a less invasive/expensive treatment first, I know nothing about the other drugs, but Femara was easy with body as well... Your doctor sounds really good, and is monitoring you close, so you will find your lucky recipe soon!!!

I am so sorry to hear about your cancelled Cycle....I thinking trying Femara with a lower dose of Injectables is a great option for you, as you clearly respond too well to the straight injectables....I did do a month of Femara and Injectables, now my response was slow and there for i have to be on the more aggressive straight injectables, but for you i can see it having many benefits, for one the lowering of the Follistim will ease your emotions and the Femara's side effects are nothing compared to the shots, emotionally that is, the less meds the better....Also i am right there with you regarding IVF, I too am not ready for that route and i do hope it is not even another thought for either of us....It is great that your RE is working so hard to find out what works best for you, i do wish you did not go through all you have though.

Take care Mary Beth, and good luck.....Stay hopeful!!!

There have been ladies on here in the past that used Femara / Folistim and had great results~! Hope that is the formula that works for you. Sorry you had to be cancelled again. Maybe giving your body a rest for a bit will be good before starting the new protocol. Thanks for the update. Sending you loads of and prayers for a very soon.
