Bummer day...
Well, I went for my first pre-IUI ultrasound today. Even with the Femara, I only had one follicle, although a good size at 21, he said with only one it is a waste of money to do the IUI as it will not increase my chances. So I guess we'll save $400 and try au naturale, again, like that is going to work! Anyway, I seem to ovulate early which is good to know, except they don't really prescribe Femara for more than a year, so I'm almost at that point already. My worst fear is that once I'm off it, I'll go back to not ovulating, then I'll have zero chances! I don't know what we'll do from here yet, IUI with injectables really ups the chances of multiples, which I'm not really comfortable with and IVF is just out of the question financially. So that's my great day in a nutshell! Hope everyone else is having a better day.

Re: Bummer day...
What dosage does he have you on Phoebs? Maybe if he would double your dosage (if you only on 2.5) or up it to 7.5 (if you are already on 5mg) that would help you make more than one follicle next cycle. You might ask. Sorry that the IUI went out the window, but at least the doc was honest and didn't let you "waste" your money on the IUI if he didn't feel it would be any more effective.
Good luck with the BDing. Keep us posted.

Re: Bummer day...
I'm on 5mg. I asked him if 7.5 would make a difference and he said probably not, but when I go back to the other doctor, if he lets me stay on the Femara a bit longer, I'll ask to up the dosage. Thanks for the suggestion and kind words.

Re: Bummer day...
I am so sorry hon! Cont. with the bd'ing and you never know what could happen!
I wanted to give you some encouragement about injectables they can monitor you VERY closely with ultrasounds and b/w to get the right amount of follicles (what you are comfortable with) and if you get too many you can just cancel the cycle. My re's nurse that triplets are very rare like under 5% and sometimes they see twins but mostly singletons with follistim/femara. I am sure you already know this, but just incase you didn't I wanted to offer you some encouragement.
Keep up the work our bfp's HAVE to be coming soon!!

Re: Bummer day...
BIG BIG HUGS!!!!!!! I am sorry you are struggling with the meds and finding the right level. I truly think your doctor is awesome for telling you to hold off on the IUI even though it was hard to hear.....IF is so expensive and it’s nice that he is conscious of that, most doctors are not.
I know injectables are scary but you would be closely monitored and maybe your body just needs the extra kick to get things going.
I would NOT give up on BD'ing either....you know this could be your month. I am sending you lots of and keeping you in my prayers. Hang in there girly!!!!

Re: Bummer day...
Thanks girls. I'll definately find out more about injectables when I go back. They want me to wait and see what happens with this cycle first. I thought I got off easy with no trigger shot, but might end up with even more shots! Yikes! How many shots do you have to take with injectables?

Re: Bummer day...
I take femara 2.5 mgs for five days twice a day and then do follistim which all you have to do is dial up the dose on the pen put on the microfine bd needle (as small if not smaller than a diabetic needle) then inject, I do that for six nights and then go in for my cd 12 scan. If follicle are good and mature then the nurse gives me the trigger shot then and we do timed intercourse. Hope this helps. Any more questions feel free to ask. I was so scared when I first started injections now I feel like a pro they don't hurt a bit!!
