Oh my gosh.
I can't believe what has just happened.
As all of you know I had the IUI July 28th. Well I ended up spotting 9dpiui and it got heavier for a few days. I went into the RE for b/w and u/s to start the meds again. They said neg. test and also I have cysts. So they put me on birth control pills for two weeks. In this time I have been having terrible headaches which never have. Also I have been feeling real nausous. I have been on birth control for about a week and I started spotting again which is normal for me I always spot on the pill. But from just feeling real sick lately I thought I would come home from work today and take a preg. test. Thank God I did. BFP it should up instintly I can't believe it. Why didn't they catch this at the doctors I was 12dpiui when I went in for the blood test. And to top it off I have been drinking some wine and beer here and there. I'm going for a beta test tomorrow I'm super excited but I'm scared about the pill I been taking for a week and about drinking.
I wil let you know tomorrow the results. Tomorrow should be 20dpiui
PS - When I got preg. with my dd I thought I had my period for two days but I ended up taking a test because it was real light.
I hope everything is ok because my period or ( implantation was kinda heavy ).
I'll be back tomorrow when I find out for sure whats going on.

OH MY GOSH!!!!!! I am keeping my fingers crossed for you.....I can not wait to hear your news tomorrow.

OMG Karen, how exciting! Don't sweat the BCPs I took them for a full month with my first son. I spotted off and on through that month and the doc told me to just keep taking them, my body just hadn't gotten used to them. Once the spotting stopped it didn't start back up when AF should have showed; because I was PG.

got my for you sweetie!!! Can't wait to hear the final word tomorrow.

I got up at 6am this morning and did another test, different brand. It was the same thing it changed to Positive within seconds.
I went and got a blood test this morning at 7:30am so I have to call after 2:30pm
So I will let everyone know tonight.

I got the results 1st beta was 491 and I am 19dpiui.
I have no idea what good beta numbers are.
The nurse said it was weird because I came in on 12dpiui and the blood test did not pick up any HCG. The doctor said I could have ovulated a day or two late. I go in for the second blood test on Monday I hope the numbers double.

WOOT......CONGRADULATIONS!!!!!! That is great news.

I am still so new to this world and hate sounding dumb but what do both those numbers and abbreviations stand for?

That is SO awesome!!!! I know you are thrilled. That is a very good beginning number. for doubled beta # at your next appt. Keep us posted.


Constance the # is called a beta number. It measures the amount of HCG (pregnancy hormone) found in the blood. As the embie cells divide and grow that number increases, usually doubling every 48 hours. The abreviation DPIUI = days past IUI (intra-uterine insemination). HTH. Don't sweat not knowing and asking for clarification. We were all new at some point and had to ask also.
