I think we all are aware of the need for advertisers and revenue. But these things are so aggressive and annoying. I click to post a reply or to submit a thread and the darned things pop up right at the most inopportune moment, taking me to the advertisers site.

One of the ladies on a forum made a comment about how hard it is when you are posting a heart felt response only to have this thing jump in at a tender moment.

And our pop up blockers don't seem to be working toward keeping them at bay. I elected to say I don't want these adverts popping up, and they've decided to circumvent my actions to prevent them and are being forced on me yet again.

So, Idea: On some sites, instead of the pop ups...well...popping up, you can post your message, you will go to another page with the ad, and you can hit continue to get back to the original page. While I would still prefer not to have to do even this much (I'm a Tivo gal, with the commercial skipping egg memorized!) can we find a compromise?

Again, I think we all understand that the ads are a necessary "evil". But if perhaps we could find a subtler way of working with them?

Just a thought.

We all hate pop ups, but as you have already said they are a necessary evil to keep the boards free for our posters. When they first set up the new ads, they had the pop ups set too fast, this has since been changed so you shouldn't be having quite the problem now.
