Default Mattresses?

Ok so I'm in need of some more advice/suggestions

Chayse needs a new crib mattress, I got one at my baby shower and it seems to be a cheapo one [yeah that's what his Dads family is good for] But his seems to feel uncomfortable atleast to me I can rub my hand over it and feel the springs. I don't see how that could be comfy for him at all. I am going to be getting him a new one at the end of the month and am kind of overwhelmed by all the diff mattresses [as this is one of the few things I didn't look into before he was born bc Kyle's Aunt said she would get one]. What mattresses do you ladies have for your LO's? I def don't want to have to buy ANOTHER one before he is out of the toddler bed. I've browsed around online at target, BRU and walmart. I've seen them in price range from $59.99 [seems to be cheapo's] all the way to $199.99!I [I obviously don't want to spend that kind of cash on a mattress that won't be used too too long as I've been needing a new one before I was even preggo lol I've been sleeping on an air mattress topper lol but I'm getting him a new mattress first then mine.]
Thanks!

I bought a $129 mattress @ wal-mart that's never been used except once by the cat. It's still sitting in storage. It feels medium-nice I wanna say it's a serta brand... I can let you know tomorrow when I go out there (there's no light) (and I have to get some stuff outta there anyway).

I think it was in Sweden, but I'm not sure... one of those S countries... instead of doing "back to sleep" to lower SIDS rates they wrapped their crib mattresses in organic material or had the family use organic mattresses (way expensive! holy cow!)... and their rate lowered as much as ours did, probably because of the chemicals and off-gassing and such. So whatever you get, remember to let it off gas for a few days with moving air before using it. We let our new king mattress off-gas for a week and it still had that ick chemical smell!

Good luck!

When i was pregnant with kaylee, jeffs mom bought our mattress at BRU and it was a medium nice one for about 89 bucks. Its a serta. I liked it. It wasnt too hard but not too soft. Ive slept on it before( dont ask lol) But when i moved home this past fall my mom bought kaylees mattress at walmart. Im not sure of the brand. I'll look when i get home from work in the am. I know it wasnt expensive but its just as nice as the one from BRU.

We have this one: Sealy Natural Rest Mattress

can't feel the springs or anything, and she sleeps great on it, so it has to be at least a little comfy

Another option, assuming he's in a toddler bed instead of a crib: have you considered getting a twin mattress and placing it on the floor? That way it's low enough that he can't hurt himself rolling off, but you only have the expense of buying the mattress once.

Jennifer- lol no we're def not in a toddler bed yet I think that's still aways away yet. But that is a good idea thanks

Thank you ladies. I'm hoping to get all this baby stuff outta the way at the end of the month. Not only do we need a new mattress, but a booster seat, and a new stroller. UGH lol
