I went out looking for some regular undies for DS today... as I didn't want to pay a ton just to get the special little ones at theecstore.com... and I'd heard that you can somehow shrink these down to fit your tiny toddler.
So, anyone know how to shrink stuff? I've only ever done it on accident!
The smallest these come in is a 2T, which is 26lbs+... DS is a tiny-waisted 20lber!
LOL thanks!!

I would just try washing in the hottest hot water you have and dry them on the hottest setting. Not sure if it will work, but I have shrunk some stuff washing them in hot water (when I didn't mean to!)
the hot wash/hot dry is the only way I know to shrink. I think it works best if it's the first time being washed too.. at least in my minimal experience.

Yeah...washing/drying in hot water won't shrink the waist band. So that won't work. Altering them will be the only way to go. IMHO...I think paying the money for his size would be much easier. Alot less time consuming and they would actually fit him correctly.
I did manage to shrink the fabric a ton, and now the waistband just "sits" on top of the shorts... which looks even funnier than the original pic! LOL.
There's a local upscale baby store that sells "baby's first boxers" with a drawstring waistband... may have to go that route. Although I am totally not above just buying a pair of 3-6 month shorts either!
Thanks for trying to help with mission impossible

I know they don't come in boxers, but there are training underwear - like regular briefs but thicker. You can find them in any walmart, target type place and they're cheap and probably come in smaller sizes.

No, the smallest is always 2/3T. I have a 26# 3yo, it was hard to find undies for him, since it's been close to a year now since he potty learned. I found that 1) boxers run bigger 2) Hanes? run smaller, whatever the brand that has Thomas the Train is, lol 3) Target runs small too, but doesn't size till 4. Hanna Anderson has some smaller undies, but I still can't bring myself to spend $20 on 3 pair of undies for Evan. Girl undies would run smaller than boys if your DH wouldn't be crazy about it.

I may get some girly undies DH doesn't really care as it's only at home anyway, and DS has a purple diaper he wears daily, it's one of his faves. Maybe I'll get cinderella undies! LOL

Are you having him wear undies at home now instead of being nude during the day? I guess I am not sure how your system of potty training works! I would just pay the extra money and get the ones from theecstore.com that fit properly. Also, I just HAVE to ask, what is that next to the garbage can in the picture? Please don't tell me thats a turd?!?!?!
OMG no... I took the picture and double checked too cause that's what it looked like, and I was like WHAT?!?! It was a grape that he'd taken out of my fruit bowl and I thought he ate it, but he spit it out. Guess he doesn't like red grapes
As far as pottying goes, if it's cool in the house I like having him in undies instead of naked, plus babylegs, so that his little package and hiney don't get too cold I'd also like to get him used to regular undies that he/I pull down to potty, like in public. He does pretty well with them now, he can sort of pull them halfway down before going, but we've had plenty of instances where he sat on the potty and peed on the elastic band cause he didn't pull down far enough and I didn't notice soon enough to help him!
Anywho, I think I'll get a pair or two from theecstore and see how it goes
