Everything went great
Got there at 11am, found out that my appointment was pushed back because of an emergency that morning and that we wouldn't be seen until 12:15. Luckily we got in sooner, since MIL needed to be home by 2. Anyway, they worked through their lunch, so we were out on time.
MIL watched Lily while we spoke to a genetic counselor. She explained the quad screen test, my results and what follows. According to my test results, it showed a 1 in 6 chance for the baby to have Down Syndrome, instead of a 1 in 1300 chance for a normal 24 year old. I told the genetic counselor about the questionable dating and she said best case scenario would be just wrong dating..
Which it was! I was right on about the dating (well, 2 days off). My due date is officially 11/13/08 instead of 10/27/08. So I am 15 weeks today. Lily was acting up so MIL had to take her out of the room, but she was pointing to the screen saying "baby," it was so cute! The baby didn't cooperate very well with it's position and was too young for accurate measurement, so I'll be getting another u/s, yay! Everything looked great on the u/s as far as the tech could see. She saw clear pics of the kidneys, bladder, brain, heart, all the bones in the arms and legs. The nuchal fold was normal as well (a Down Syndrome marker). The heart rate was 153.
Since the dating was off for the quad screen, the results are void.. and I decided I'm not going to do the screening again.
The tech was able to get some shots of the baby's possible sex.. she said it's still kind of early, but it's looking like a
boy so far! (I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for a girl though!)
Here are some u/s pics
I'm so happy to have seen the baby and no longer worry about those test results!
