Default What is your pea eating these days ?

Daniel will pretty much eat anything without a problem...other than things we pay for in restaurants (lol) and vegetables (sigh)...

Some breakfast foods he likes are:

Scrambled eggs, cereal with milk, yogurt, waffles, pancakes, toast with cheese

Lunch varies but he likes ham, turkey, chicken, cheese, mac n cheese, rice, pickles, olives

Dinner we go with some sort of meat..found out recently he loves BBQ marinated flank steak ! I always give him veggies but he will rarely touch them. He will occasionally eat corn, cucumber or carrots. He also loves spaghetti and will eat most any kind of meatballs too.

We occasionally will give him the convenience food like chicken nuggets, pizza, or hot dogs which he likes too. He loves ketchup too and dipping everything in it.

Really he will eat most things other than the veggies. I do have the Jessica Seinfield book about hiding veggies in stuff but I just haven't had the time to deal with making purees and all that. I do make muffins and grate carrot in them and stuff like that but I just feel guilty he isn't eating broccolli and stuff like that.

Any BTDT Moms have any suggestions on what works for your peas ? Oh, and he LOVES fruit..eats it at every meal and would live on it if I let him.

Coleton wasn't big on veggies either so I could hide them in his spagetti and I always bought the primevara pasta sauce with the chunky veggies. He loved spagetti there for a long while so I would make a huge pot regularly, add chopped lunch meat and a slamm can of veggies to the sauce, and then freeze/store it in smaller containers. He never knew the difference and it wasn't as time-consuming as some other methods. We also started "helping" him to eat his veggies. We'd sit and feed them to him. We just didn't make it an option. Now, Olivia wouldn't allow us to force anything on her at this stage, but bribes do work. We just keep it small. For example, she loves chips so I will tell her she can have a chip after she takes a bite of veggie and has a few sips of milk. Then I just give her one small chip, or even a 1/2. She's often do this over and over until she's eaten all of her veggies and most of her milk. Lastly, I've found that O get's easily distracted thse days (i.e. she does better with one thing on her plate at a time). Maybe try offering just veggies first and then after he's taken a few bites, give him the other parts of his meal that he liked better. Just some thoughts.

What Cam likes varies from day to day. Fruit is one constant. He loves it--especially if it's fresh! He's also a big fan of Mandarin Oranges. He loves hot dogs, poptarts, breakfast bars, and granola bars.

Pretty much anything else it depends on the day. Usually he loves chicken, but tonight he wouldn't touch it. Usually he loves green beans, but the last few times I've tried, he won't touch them.

He's usually hit or miss with most stuff. I've tried bribing him...he chooses to pass on the food and the bribe. LOL

We've had some eating issues lately, but I've found that if I help to feed Austin his food then he will eat more. I don't know if we're having an issue with chair height (the booster and my table/chairs) don't work well together and he prefers to sit on the chair itself. Who knows. I'm sure it's a phase.

We do have some go to foods: nutrigrain bars, mandarin oranges, bananas, pnut butter, steak, pea salad, cheese tacos

Marissa will happily eat almost anything, except white potato (sweet potato is fine). I've tried mashed, baked, roasted, scalloped, and she won't touch them. The only exception is french fries (of course).

She has a huge appetite (like her daddy - hopefully she'll have his metabolism too and not mine!) - the other day she ate 2 hot dogs, plus some bun, plus veggies, and fruit for dessert.

For breakfast Anna usually has some cheerios with milk and a banana. Sometimes she will have an egg and pick at some toast. Sometimes she won't eat much breakfast but will have a good snack a couple hours later. Sometimes if she's teething badly or just feeling crappy, she will only want that old powdered baby mixed cereal, made with milk and one of those applesauce snacks. My mom discovered this one day when she wouldn't eat anything and she found a box in the cupboard - it was old, yikes! I had to buy a new box, lol.

For lunch she will have home made macaroni and cheese (I just put some grated cheddar and cream cheese in hot noodles until it melts), or an egg, or a sandwich (usually grated cheddar cheese), or sometimes some sort of soup (chicken noodle, veggie, beef, tomato rice, whatever) with most of the broth drained off. She likes her peas and carrots cooked until they are soft, in tomato-based soup. Or sometimes if it's hot I'll make her fruit salad, cottage cheese, and give her some crackers.

For supper she'll usually just have what we're having, or if it's something she can't have or if she's hungry before we're ready to eat, she'll have something else like I mentioned for her lunch. She likes rice if we have stir fry, she likes pizza if I pick the meat off.

She loves those heinz baby cereal bars for a snack. She loves any kind of fruit except avocado (she's never liked it!) Yesterday in the run of the day she ate a whole banana, a whole peach, a half-cup of strawberries and 4 or 5 slices of watermelon. Yeah, she's never constipated! lol

She loves tomatoes, cucumbers, corn on the cob. She used to love broccoli but now she's getting picky about it. She hates green beans and squash, always has. She dislikes most meats, she picked at a few crumbs of hamburger tonight and I was impressed with that! She's drinking milk like a champ now and I give her juice watered down 50/50 a couple times a day if she asks for it (she always has it in the morning). She drinks water too.
