Unexplained Infertility and Allergy Medication
To all:
I have been a lurker on this board and on She Knows in general for about a year. My husband and I had TTC for over a year and were diagnosed with "unexplained infertility." I had gone to see an allergist during my first month of TTC and she advised that the 2 medications she was prescribing for me would have to be changed after we conceived. They were allegra and singulair. Anyway, after a year of TTC with no success and a diagnosis of "unexplained infertility" I went back to see her and asked if there was any wa that the allergy medication could be affecting my fertility. She said "no way" - BUT proceeded to change both prescriptions to claritin and pulmicort. Anyway - long story short - we conceived ONE MONTH LATER.
I have gained so much comfort from these boards, even as a lurker, and wanted to share my story with you. In case any of you are on either one of these medications, you may want to talk to your allergist to see if that could be causing your infertility.
We are now expecting a little one in September, and although it took us a long time to get here, we are thrilled.
I have been thinking about posting this to share with you - and I finally have emerged from "lurkdome" to do so.
Good luck to all of you!
