Hi ladies! Hubby and I are TTC, I have one bio daughter (5yo) and two adopted kiddos (teens) as well. We are doing clomid cd 5-9 100mg (I have pcos) and the md saw three eggs getting ready to release! She wants me to come back this Saturday (cd 14) for another U/S to be sure, but she said to be prepared for the possibility of twins. I'd just like some ideas on how likely multiples are at this point. Obviously we've gotten the '10%' speech, but has anyone had multiple eggs show up and either A) had all conceive or B) had only one concieve? She said the chances of hitting one are good, and twins are about 50% with three hitting the chute, as it were...so I'd love some ideas from moms who have been there or done that?

Well, I can tell you this: I just had a cancelled IVF cycle (not enough eggs for IVF) that was converted to an IUI cycle. I had 6 eggs at the time of trigger but the RE only thinks 3-4 would release. Anytime you have more than one egg release you have the possiblity of multiples. Most IF meds will have you produce more than one egg because that's their purpose so the chance of multiples is always there. The only way to control the number of eggs would be to use IVF and only transfer one to two eggs.

I got pg from the IUI cycle and my betas are quite high so we don't know yet if there is more than one in there.

I was on clomid when TTC my son and had multiple eggs each month. Maybe 2-3 mature ones. I only got prego w/one.
Then this time TTC #2 I am on injections and had 3 mature eggs. I still think if it worked there will be only one.

It really depends on what gets fertilized but the more there are the more targets there are. That is how I look at it. All the sperm searching for 1-3 eggs instead of just 1.
