Icon7 Intro and Question

Hello, My name is Jennifer and I am 31 years old. I have been married almost 9 years and have a 3 year old son named Lance. I usually post on September Sprouts but have felt the need to move over here and seek some advice from some of you ladies. I have had 2 preg. but only one child. I had a miscarriage the first time at 13 weeks but went on the have a baby after that. I had to take clomid with my son but really do not remember how many cycles I used it. I do not think it was long...maybe 2 cycles. Now I am trying to conceive and things just aren't going good and I am starting to get discouraged. The first month I was on 50mg of clomid. I didn't get a + on my opk and no cycle. I went on to take provera and 100 mg of clomid. Well, this is like day 26 and again no + on the opk. WHAT IS GOING ON???? I am open for any stories, advice or whatever you ladies have to offer. Thanks in advance and I look forward to getting to know you ladies better!!

Welcome to the board Jennifer. The first question I would ask you comes from being in the same boat as you. What time are you doing your OPK test? I was always doing mine in the morning with the first urine and never seeing a change in the colors of the lines. Then I found out that you are supposed to test at about 2 pm. I also switched to the CBE digital sticks. They give you a empty circle, or a circle with a smiley face so there is no comparing colored lines. And I will be damed, I finally got a +OPK test last week. The second question would be what days did you take the clomid, 3-7 or 5-9? That will also give you a better idea of when. My ob says you are supposed to ovulate 5-8 days after you take your last pill. I was days 5-9 and I got my +OPK on day 17. Hope that helps.

Hello Kimberly....thanks for your reply. I am using the Clear Blue Fertility Monitor....the digital kind where you insert your stick and it reads it for you. I thought it said to test first thing in the morning so that is what I have been doing. I couldn't tell anything from the lines on the sticks you just pee on. Sounds like the sticks you are using are easy. I took the clomid on days 3-5 I thought. I will go home and check the bottle to find out if it was 3-7. I also take glucophage for the pcos. Abnormal cycles aren't helping me any!!

Welcome to the board Jennifer. I do not use the Clear Blue Fertility Monitor, but I think that measures something other than your lh surge so I do think you are supposed to use fmu. Maybe someone else will chime in that uses a Clear Blue Fertility Monitor. You probably took the clomid CD3-CD7. Are you having a p4 (progesterone serum) test done every month to see if you o'd? Some doctors are out on it, but I believe it is crucial to see if your progesterone level is high enough to indicate that you O'd. I know that Brynn O's on clomid and she has PCOS, but she O's late like CD20 or something. You may want to try the digital opk's for one month to see if you can catch your +opk. You are on CD26 so you also might want to go have a p4 test done this week to see if you O'd. Are you being treated by a ob, doc, or RE? Sorry so many questions!

Jennifer, I read on another board from alot of ladies, that if you are on clomid you are not supposed to use the fertility moniter, only the poas kind. something about the clomid and the way it affects the monitor. As for the P4 test, my OB feels that if you are on clomid and have a cycle between 26 and 33 days, that you are ovulating, therefore no need for a P4. Everyone is different though.

Hi Jennifer - I just wanted to welcome you to the Board. I hope your stay here is short. As for your fertility monitor, I don't have any advice. I used the Ovuquick OPK for the first time this cycle and it worked great.

Jennifer, I use those, they are so much easier to read. Good luck!!! I have never heard of taking clomid only 3 days though. You might want to look further into that. The protocol that all the women seem to be on is either days 3-7 or 5-9.
