Clomid VS clomid generic????

Hi,

I was wondering if any of you know if Clomid is better then the generic version? I am going to start on clomid and my insurance wont cover NADA! so I will like to know if I can save some money in the generic version. since I know that after 19 months TTC and dealing also with Male Factor our chances are not that high and we will need the money for IUIs or IVF!

I wanted to get the generic version as well. I asked the pharmacy and the difference in price as about $0.50!! Maybe it's different in the US though, I'm in Canada. I opted for the brand name.

Its my understanding that generics are the same active ingredient as name brand. The only difference being the name of the manufacturer. This is my first month on clomid and I am taking generic. Same thing as you, 12+ ttc, no insurance for fertility treatment and possible male factor. Good luck.

I took generic when I was on it. I responded better on the generic then the name brand. But then again when I was on name brand I was only on 50mg. So I dont think that there is a difference

I took the generic and it worked just fine for me. It saved me like 15 bucks.

Thanks! I think that I will buy generic the difference in price is huge at least for me. I looked in the internet and for brandname was arround $55 and generic was $26....I need to save money were I can....the money that I will saved can help for the IUI OR IVF!

lurking...when i took clomid, i always took the generic and i think it ran about 26-30$ depending on which pharmacy i used. (that was for 5 pills @ 50 mgs)

I'm not sure if it's generic or not, might be, but my insurance covers it and all i pay is 10%. Clomiphene Citrate at brooks pharmacy in CT is like 26 bucks and i pay $2.60 for it. Like i said not sure if it's name brand or not. I did talk to my OB and he said wether it be generic or name brand it has the same effect.
