Default Brand new

Hello,

I'm brand new here, but needed somewhere to go to talk about this. My DH and I have decided not to tell our family and friends that we are TTC so that we can avoid the looks, questions and advice. My mom, sister, aunts and everyone else in my family have had no problems getting PG, so I don't think they'll understand.

After a US last week, my doctor found cysts on my OVs, but doesn't know if it's PCOS because I don't have any other symptoms. I've never O'd regularly, but spent 9 years on BCP, so I wasn't aware there was a problem. I stopped BCP in April, and had one cycle after 36 days, but have had nothing since. My doctor wants to start Clomid once my DH has been tested, and I guess I'm a little nervous.

Any advice or thoughts from those of you who have been in my shoes?

Thanks!

I'm in the same position - I've never had regular periods since I was a kid, and I spent 20 years on bcp before going off in May. I've been getting periods since then (thanks to metformin), but I'm still getting cysts, and my cys are getting longer and longer. My doctor just prescribed Clomid for me, so I guess I'll see what happens. My only advice would be to encourage you to ask your doctor to do the bloodwork for PCOS . . . and possibly put you on metformin, too. If you have PCOS, adding metformin greatly increases the effectiveness of clomid/pregnancy success rate, and reduces the miscarriage rate. GL!

I don't know a lot about PCOS, but I wanted to say good luck! I hope that Clomid does the trick for you!

Thanks! It helps to know I'm not alone. I started the prometrium last night to bring on AF, and then I'll start the first round of Clomid. I talked to my doc about Metformin and he said if the first two rounds don't work, we'll try that too.

Hello and Welcome

I do have PCOS, but like you I have no other signs except for the fact that I don't ovulate. I am actually very thin (too thin since I've been on Metformin), no crazy hair growth that is abnormal and most OB's untill my last one basically laughed when I told them that might be an issue My mother had it as well that was the big indicator. But I had the blood work done and am currently taking metformin. I was on both clomid and metformin, but the clomid worked the same as when I was just on it alone. I would highly advise you to get the blood work done. Metformin (if you have PCOS) can help with so much more then just ovulation. My mother wished they would have known about it when she was having children because she had many many miscarriages.

Good luck with TTC. I totally understand where not wanting to tell anyone would come into play.... I hate it when i get all the "advise" from people who have never had a problem with TTC. I wish you all the luck starting clomid!! And these boards help me so much with questions and the like. Baby dust to you!!!

Thanks, Beana. It helps to know I'm not the only one with no other symptoms. I'm also pretty underweight, which is why my Dr. is hesitant to diagnose it as PCOS. He said if this first round of clomid doesn't work, he'll do the test and prescribe the metformin if needed, so that makes me feel better.

I got the results of my progesterone test today and it's only at 7.1, so my doctor is increasing my dosage to 100 mg for round 2, and putting me on metformin starting today.

I hope AF comes soon so I can start again!
