Have any of you heard of Parents as Teachers?
They are starting Parents as Teachers here in our area. I am excited. It is a Nationwide Program where the have a BTDT mom that is certified as an "advisor" for each mom and she will come to your house and give food suggestions, potty training advice, behavior recommendations, etc. They also have weekly/monthly activities for children 2-5.
A family moved here about six months ago from California and was astonished to find there was nothing for their 2 and 4 year old children to do here. No kidding !!!!! So, they started aq local Parents as Teachers chapter and I have enrolled Rylie into the program.
They explained that they have books you can borrow on all sorts of parenting subjects. They will have activities such as play groups, story groups, and art groups (monthly right now and weekly once they get more children enrolled). The mom's are encouraged to participate and be at the play groups to meet other moms and to let the kids play together.
They have permission to use the basement of a church and they have all sorts of toys and stuff for the kids to play with. I am so excited that we will finally have someplace to take Rylie to meet other children. Best part of all Parents as Teachers IS FREE !!!!!!!!!
They said this is a nationwide program so, I was wondering if any of your tots participate and/or if there is one of these groups in your areas? If so, you may want to check it out. It is for all children PRE Kindergarten age.
If your kids go .... tell me what you think of the group?
