Default More so than throwing, jumping!

Preston has been jumping for a few months. He has gotten so good at it that he actually uses hopping as a transportation mode. Here is the problem: He jumps up and down on everything. The lady that watches him is panicking that he is going to get seriously injured as he gets to the top of the slide and just stands there jumping. Luckily he has good balance but he does fall and isn't phased when he does. How are you guys controlling the complete off the ground jumping?
