Default varicocelectomy...........

I posted a while back about mf if. My husband has a left varicocele and has had 2 low sa. His urologist suggested surgery, saying it would improve our chances substainially. We also went to a re who suggested ivf/icsi. After much consideration going back and forth about what to do, we decided to try the surgery. We already have a 4 yr old ds, that is biologically both of ours. So I was thinking...since I have no problems, and that if we fix his problem then maybe we can do it on our own again. Is that crazy to think it should work again after his surgery. I was wondering if anybody had any advice or what to expect with surgery. Dh was totally against the surgery at first but he came around...lol

Thanks

My DH had his surgery in June of this year and we just found out this morning that I am pg after trying for over 2 years! I would definitely try the surgery first, you never know. It does not always help but there are still plenty of success stories! I'm living proof!

Good luck to you!

Hi! I posted awhile ago & said that my story was similar. We have a 3-yr. old. We just met with a specialist last week. He recommends against the surgery for my husband. He doesn't believe that it will help. My husband has low sperm count (2 million) and low motility (30%). We are going to undergo further tests with the specialist & then he will recommend where to go from there. . . .IVF - IUI - etc.

At first I thought we would go the route of my husband having surgery but now I'm sure that we won't. He convinced us otherwise. The specialist will be able to analyze my husband's sperm in more detail so that he'll be able to give us a better idea of our success rates.

GOOD LUCK with your decision!

I too don't know anything about the surgury, my DH's problems couldn't be fixed (I wish) but if they can be (or even if there's a slight chance!) we would have gone for it! Good luck and keep us posted. BTW what better way to start working on #2 post surgury...you get to play naughty nurse and patient!

If your insurance will pay for the surgery, I would say go for it. Like Sheri said, she is living proof that it can and does work!
My husband had a VR, which wasn't all that successful, since we paid out of pocket I wish we would have went straight to IVF w/icsi.
But those are just personal opinions.
