Re: Varicocele Repair Success
Hi Curleya
Thats great news about your DH Are you guys going to try naturally or look into IUI? I priced IUI, In louisiana it's from $200-$400. My DH does not have enough sperm or motility right now for IUI. The price is alot better than IVF. Insurance in louisiana does not cover fertility and IVF are between $10,000-$15k. We are all cheering for that BFP

We are going to try naturally 1st, at least for a couple of months since we got positive results. I do not know the price of IUI in PA, but if I need to look into it we will. Our fertility doctors feel that we should not rush into IUI just yet. Hopefully, I will be BFP very soon. We are praying this all works out. Thanks for the positive reinforcement.

Thank you so much for asking how sweet of you!!!...well good news..Dh told me today that so far he thinks the worst part of the ACUTAL surgery is the anticipation beforehand!!! so u should tell your DH that!...my DH also did the same surgery u guys are doing. the one that is NOT the embolism. he has a small incision thing by his groin area and they cut the veins and tied them off? i think?
DH hasent even had to take any pain medication at all yet today!!!...yesterday when he woke up he was not in any pain at all...and still not when we got home!...he just took some pain med just to make sure!...he kind of walks a little bit like an old man but that is about it. he was instructed afterwards to continually put ice on himself 30 min on and 30 min off all day yesterday. so far, today he has used the ice just half as much!...the surgery started at 7:20 and he woke up in the recovery room at 9:30!..( it did take a little longer than they expected but said it went great)
if you have ANY other questions PLEASE ask!...but like i said tell your DH that at least from what my DH has experienced the anticipation has been the worst part!...
GOod luck to everyone and baby dust!! i enjoy keeping in touch with all of you-it really helps!!!

Re: Varicocele Repair Success
Great News Tapshoe!!! I can't wait for your BFP...My DH urologist just had hip surgery so we are waiting to hear back from the nurse if the appointment has been canceled. I had my yearly check up today, my GYN said DH has enough sperm to do an IUI, but I still want to wait on the surgery to concieve natural. I am so happy the worst is over for you and DH. Are you excited? I will be so relieved when DH has the surgery. Thanks for the info on the surgery. My DH is still a little scared. I wish you both the best of luck and baby dust. I will keep you both in my prayers. How long until you guys are back in the baby making business in the room? - I hope i'm not out of line asking that question.

Hi Tapshoe! I am glad to hear from you. My DH has an appointment for surgery next wednesday (June 4) at 9am. I will let you know you everything goes. I'm sure you and DH will see lots of improvement when you go for post op. Just think when you ovulate again next month...he would be healed by then. Good luck

Re: Varicocele Repair Success
Hello ladies! I just wanted to let you all know in case your doctor didn't inform you; even following the surgery it takes 3 months or more to see improvement because it takes at least 74 days for sperm to mature. That is why most doctors won't do the follow-up s/a until 3 mths post-op. We just had our 3 mth post-op s/a and found HUGE improvement! The doctor also told us that we will continue to see improvement in the next several months! All of DH's numbers are well within the normal limits now!!!! We're so excited!
I had an IUI yesterday, so we're hoping that this time will be a success and I'll get my BFP in a few weeks!!!
Well, anyhow...Good luck gals! Hope your DH's recovery goes well!!!

Re: Varicocele Repair Success
Thanks DMG, it always help hearing good news. I hope you get a BFP! Please keep us posted.
Ladies...Here is another update on DH surgery. First they scheduled surgery for May 12th. Cancelled and rescheduled June 4th. Now they are trying to cancel again for June 9th. I am so upset. If we try another urologist, DH has to go through all the test again.
I asked if DH could get a referral to another doc and explained to her how unprofessional she is, so hopefully she will come up with a solution to have the surgery next week as planned.

I don't mind you asking at all....
I'm not sure if you found my other post where I listed DH's counts, but a few examples: pre-surgery his count was approx 5 million with thirty-something % motility. Post-surgery his count went up to 38 million with 58% motility.
I'm not sure if I answered all your questions, but feel free to ask anything!!!
