Deanna, don't get discouraged if you don't get your bfp this cycle. It takes about 72 days for new sperm to mature, so it may not happen so quickly. They generally say to allow at least 3 months to see improvement. That's why docs usually wait to do a post surgery sperm analysis. Although I had one woman tell me they got pg the following cycle after her DH's surgery. It's possible, just not likely. My dh had a large varicocele repaired in June 2007 and we got pg on my Sep 2007 cycle. It took us exactly 3 months!
Thanks so much Sheri! I'm so glad to hear of your success! I did get a bfn this cycle and was pretty discouraged, but DH and I talked it over and have agreed that it is most likely due to the fact that we aren't seeing the improvement from his surgery yet. Thanks again and I'm so happy for you!
My dh had a 3 month S/A after his bi-lateral varicocele surgery and he did show improvement with his motility. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Just waiting for SA
I am new to this site. we just found out my DH have a Varicocele on the right side...a year of not using ANY protection and then a year of actually trying..i am relieved to have an answer. ..yet scared to death at the same time!...We have the surgery sched for may and we are just HOPING it help improve his counts. right now they are really low!!! i was just wondering if any of the women who posted that they were waiting for SA results have received them? and if they got any promising news?! any suggestions or words of hope are welcome!...im happy to be able to chat with people who truly understand. thanks!
My DH had the varicocele embolization rather than the traditional surgery to correct his. It is less invasive and has easier healing and usually even has better results. We haven't gotten s/a results yet but I'm sure that his counts will be better because we can see such a difference visually. I know one of the ladies on here got pg 3 mths after her DH had the varicocele repaired.
Me and my DH are facing several problems other than the varicocele, so we may not see as good as results but we're remaining hopeful. Good luck!
Just wanted to update you all that I got a yesterday and I was only 9dpiui! Never give up hope is all I say! I'm pretty sure my dh's surgery did help because it definately increased his motility so much more. At our IUI his count was only 3.5 million and the dr was really concerned. Well, the IUI worked.
