Icon5 Testicular Biopsy?

We talked to the urologist that will see him today and they said that he will need to come in and do lots of bloodwork and then they would schedule a Testicular Biopsy to see if he makes sperm at all. If so then they will do other things to test for blockage, etc. If not then we will see a specialist at Chapel Hill.

Anyone know about this procedure, testicular biopsy? He is freaking out about his package!!!!

The biopsy is pretty straight forward. Pretty much just like having a blood draw except on a testicle. Try to ease his mind. They use a local anesthetic. One of the easier tests by far!

That is interesting. My DH had lots of bloodwork done but his urologist said that even with the extremely low SA that he could be making sperm and that it maybe a hormone problem which is why he is taking medicine. He ruled out blockage I guess. Does sound scary and I know my DH is fearing having to to get his sperm aspirated for a possible IUI or IVF and would be just as concerned for his package as well.

Agree with Chrissy -- my DH had one and it was very basic -- The best thing about the procedure was the result for us -- answered the ? of any live motile sperm. Our answer was yes, tons. Hopefully yours will be the same.

Make sure to have frozen peas on hand and after 24 hours he'll be fine! As if nothing had ever happened.

Well my DH went to get a an ultrasound done to check for cancer yesterday. Part of all the tests I guess. Good news is that the doctor says everything is fine. Bad news is that he does not understand what is going on with him and the Urologist is a fertility specialist so that concerns me more now.

Anyway, he is to stay on his medication that is lowering his estrogen allowing more testosterone to work on making more sperm. In another 3 weeks he is to go have another SA and he may have a testicular biopsy as well.

So more waiting for us. I'm getting so frustrated! Uggggggg.
