Icon9 Sad News

Well, we had our appt. on Monday and it was very disappointing news for us. Our only option to is IVF . My husband's count was 23 or 28 million (can't recall which) which is good, the volume is low .7 the thing that kills us is the motility which is 17% - the said is VERY low. IUI would be a waste of time and money he said. said that because the motility is so low that even if they put the by my egg they are to lazy to move. My dh wants to try different vitamins to try to improve the motility- anyone have any ideas of what kind are out there??? I have just had the heart to look at what our cost would be for IVF per time and it is $3,800 + injection $1,200, meds $2,000 and Anesthesia of $500 total of $7,500 It is simply not an option for us at the moment. We are buying a house in May and my husband had a near fatal accident in Sept. 2001 and is blind in his left eye and has to have that eye replaced. I have been to to even talk about it until today. My dh was very supportive and said that if we can keep trying :bed until after we get a house, which I understand but still very about it. So, no treatments until Sept./Oct. next year I am trying to put a positive spin on it, like I need to lose a few pounds anyway-I just can't bear to see anythng baby or go to showers. I have long enough. I will still be a part of the board because you are such a great support system and I want to support all of you too!

Lisa,

I am so sorry to hear that. I wish insurance companies were forced to pay for infertility treatments! Our RE told us to take a lot of Vitamen C and E. DH read in a men's magazine that the best multi-v for men is Centrum Silver, so he takes that too.

Don't lose faith.

Julie

So sorry for what you're going through-his numbers sound much like my dh's! I have heard Zinc and Vitamin C are the way to go. We are going to try the IUI as my DH does have 30% motility but his morphology is only 17% normal looking fellows. I wish you the best!!

Thank you so much Tracey! It is hard. It would be alot easier if it was 100% a women issue. At least we can feel like we got some control over it. I wish you and your husband all the very best on you all the best on the IUI!!!!!

Lisa-

I am so sorry you got bad news. I hope that somehow it all works out for you! Good luck in loosing weight and hopefully you will get at least a couple really energetic swimmers from DH. Maybe the fertility blend will help!
