Do you know if their is anything they can do if he doesn't make sperm? It sounds silly to ask....

Hi - DH had testicular biopsy in 1997 -- Have some frozen peas ready it doesn't tickle! But it is a GREAT test to see if there is live sperm. My DH has it but it doesn't come out due to hernia surgery which left vas blocked!!!
IMPORTANT -- If there is live sperm -- have them freeze some for use with IVF!!!!! That way he won't have to have a MESE later on!!!
Best of Luck to you!!!

Hey -- DH -- I believe remember I'm going back 11 years. but he was home for 3 days with ice, swelling was minimal. I think it was the location, very sensitive area. and the actual procedure could be quite different now too given the time.
But definetely see if they will freeze!!! Best of Luck to you! KUP!!!

If they don't find any through the biopsy, there really isn't anything else they can do. In most cases, they are able to find sperm, and to find working areas of the testicles. They only don't if there is a genetic problem (like Klinefelters) or if there is a rare condition that basically equates to complete testicular failure. In most cases, men produce sperm in at least some regions of the testicles - but, it can either not be sufficient to make it out, or in a back region where there is a blockage. So, I think you have EVERY reason to be optimistic right now that they will find sperm. Did you get any information about his hormone levels or other bloodwork they did?
I only know about my friend's experience with the biopsy - the needles they use these days are much smaller than they used to be. His wasn't so bad - they found sperm immediately, and didn't need to poke around too much.
Good luck, Molli! I hope they find some live sperm. That would be great if they can freeze some to use later for IVF. Lots of prayers and positive thoughts coming your way!
Thanks TKeys. You are awesome. I will find out more about his hormones from the blood work tomorrow at our appt.
