Re: Come out Come out wherever you are!
Renee- I've just been hanging out....taking BCP waiting to start lupron. Got a message from the nurse at the re office.....they are making me do the injection teaching again! She said that she has skipped it in the past with nurses and it has gotten her in trouble, so I just smile and nod. But she said that when I got my blood drawn the last time there was some mix up at the lab so they didn't do a tsh, t4 or prolactin level, so i need to get those drawn. sigh.....more poking. I'm sure they will be fine, but it would really suck if something was wrong and my cycle got cancelled when I was so close.
hope everyone else is doing well.
Take care.

Re: Come out Come out wherever you are!
Hiya Ladies, I have been around, but not posting that much. My DH got back an SA and it was horrible again. I was very depressed and figured I was done for. I went to see the RE for a follow up anyways (this was a new one I was seeing, I hated the old one)
Well he said that as long as there were no sperm antibodies that my DH had borderline enough swimmers to do IUI! I almost cried!
so monday he has to take a sample in for them to test for antibodies and another count!!! Pray that there are no ASA's and the numbers didn't go down! Otherwise, he said that if there were ASA I could only get pg with ivf and I will have to go knock off that convenient store for the money LOL!

Re: Come out Come out wherever you are!
Kelly.. That's kinda crazy that she's making you do that again! You are a nurse!!! derrrrrr
I can't believe you are cycling already. hasn't time flown by ?? I'm so happy and excited for you!!
Carrie.. I'm not sure if I've felt him or not. I've been nervous lately. I'm not used to waiting 6 weeks between appts. Its usually a weekly appt! But, my doc said she didn't need to see us for 6 weeks so not til October 29th! ugh!! I just loved my appts so I knew everything was ok .. KWIM ??
I'll be praying for Dh's swimmers for you!! NO antibodies!! When I first joined she knows, I chatted on the IUI board. I know there was a lady on the IUI board that got pregnant on her first IUI cycle and she had male factor infertility !! So come on !! I'm so happy for you ladies!!
You all are so deserving!
Everyone else!! Hello!!! Post an update when ya can!

Carrie - I'll be praying for your DH's swimmers! That would be fantastic if you could do IUI instead of IVF. Keep us posted!

Re: Come out Come out wherever you are!
Well, it looks like I now belong here - we just learned that DH has poor motility, and borderline poor morphology. We have to do another s/a with a wash to figure out if we will be candidates for IUI, or if we are going to have to do IVF with ICSI.

Re: Come out Come out wherever you are!
I'm not sure - the dr seemed to think we could do it in the next few weeks, but I'm anxious since I'm about to hit CD 1, and I'm hoping that I can get the results quickly and switch from a timed intercourse cycle to an IUI cycle right now. So, if they can fit us in next week, I'd like to do it then. But, at the same time, DH is officially quitting cycling until after we get pg, so I'm not sure if we should wait a few weeks and see if that makes a difference. So many choices!

Re: Come out Come out wherever you are!
Carrie - I did not do IUI. DHs count was too low, I can't remember what it was.......but we went right into IVF w/ ICSI. I had a good friend who did it. It took a few tries, but her DH was fine, she had some hormonal issues. Anyway she now has twins, a boy and a girl. Good luck!
T- Good luck to you. Hopefully you will be able to do IUI instead of the IVF....less pokes and cost.

Re: Come out Come out wherever you are!
Hey ladies, I think I'm back from sabatical too. Nothing new around here, not really ttc not really not ttc, I still pray some day just one swimmer will happen. BTW...I did IUI with donor the first time and got PG with DD the first round. This second time we did IUI with donor and nothing for 3 rounds. When it's your time, blah blah blah....
Good luck to all of you actively ttcing!

Re: Come out Come out wherever you are!
Well, we managed to schedule the s/a with a wash for tomorrow, and a follow-up appointment on Friday . . . so hopefully by Friday we will know if IUI is an option. If not . . . well, then we have to figure out if we try giving it a few months of no cycling and see if that makes a difference, or just proceed directly to IVF. I'm really hoping for good news Friday . . . that would make this process much easier - and much less expensive, too.

Re: Come out Come out wherever you are!
Oatie, yes - we did the s/a today, and the nurse called me around 4:30. S/a was not so good. - maybe even worse than last time. We needed 5 million after the wash, and we only had 2 million.
Basically, the RE said our only option is IVF with ICSI. Naturally, it is the only thing that our insurance DOESN'T cover.
So, I'm ready to just move ahead . . . DH wants to wait a few months - I think he believes just stopping cycling will magically cure his IF. I just don't want to waste any more time. We have a consult on Friday.
Dr. did say if we insisted he will let us do one cy of IUI. I'm torn - being off bcp and not on Clomid makes me miserable because of my PCOS, and we definitely won't have a shot at getting pg. If I go back on bcp until IVF, we definitely won't get pg, but I'll sure feel better. If we do IUI, it is unlikely we will get pg, but there is like a 2 or 3% chance. Our insurance covers it, so I can't decide if it is worthwhile trying. Part of me thinks that even though the chance is slim, it is still better than a 0% chance. I think it will take us at least a month to get everything in place and get the green light to do IVF, so maybe it is more of a why not?
As I said to my husband . . . something seems evil in the universe. He has the MFI . . . but I have to get the shots? I'm not upset that we have to do this, but I just wish HE could take the shots! SOMEONE out there must hate me! Sorry . . . just trying to have a sense of humor about this.
Thanks for checking in on me . . . it is much appreciated.

Re: Come out Come out wherever you are!
Sorry about the SA, I fear what mine will be when I hear from them tomorrow.
If your insurance does cover IUI, I would definitly do a cycle, 2 or 3% chance is still a CHANCE!

Re: Come out Come out wherever you are!
Aww.. well hang in there and keep your head up!! Like I posted on the IVF board.. we were in the same situation.. except.. our insurance didn't cover IUI's .. so we didn't even consider it. We figured if we were going to spend that much money on IUI, why not just use it towards IVF and our doc really didn't recommend IUI for us. I know of some women that have had MF infertility and have gotten pregnant with IUI so its definately possible! I hope it works for you (if you go that route) and hope you don't have to do IVF.
Again, like I said on the IVF board.. I understand.. we had male factor as well and I had to do all the shots. Dh just sat back and watched.. Now I'm pregnant, he gets to sit back and watch.. Just sucks!! But I love being pregnant!! Wouldn't change it!!
And.. we paid ALL out of pocket for our IVF cycle as well. We took out a loan with capitol one for 15,000 but luckily we paid it off!!!!
I wish you the best in your journey ahead.. I'll be here .. or on the IVF board cheering you on with whatever you decide!! Just try to stay positive!

Re: Come out Come out wherever you are!
GL, Carrie! i hope your news is far better than mine!
I think we will do the cy of IUI just because . . . it is something to pass the time, right?
Oatie - I'm so glad to hear you had success the first IVF cy. We're going to have to sit down and chat with the dr about the pay as you go or the shared risk. The shared risk is the cost of 2 IVFs . . . such a tough decision! We are going to talk to the doctor about it on Friday.
