Default Back from Dr appt re:cysts on epididymis

Hi, everyone! I posted the other day about how DH and I made an appt. at an urologist on our own (RE did not refer us, we're on a ttc break, and he was having a bit of pain). Well, his urologist thought he may have 1 cyst on the epididymus, but he has 2--one on each side. Now the cysts don't cause MF we're told, but he was diagnosed with a varicocele years ago, and they did find a lot of them, on each side They couldn't give us an exact number, but its "significant"). So now we wait for his follow up appt on Wednesday. I have to say, this is frustrating. We thought he had one huge v'cele, we'd get it repaired and we'd be good to go. But no, its a lot of them and I'm pretty sure that fixing one or two wouldn't help. The radiologist said that the Dr she consulted with didn't think the v'celes would make much difference, but hello, they can be a major factor in MF! Well, at least DH doesn't have pain too much, and he's on board with using a donor if we have to . Hes a great guy.
Just wanted to update you all. If anyone in a similar situation has any advice to share, it is always welcome.

--------Linda

Hi Linda-
I am sorry you are all over the place. Lots of us here have been there done that. My DH had a varicocile, one that didn't even bother him that we just found out about due to MFI. During the surgery they ended up pulling out two. Then DH went on Clomid for 3 months and I got impatient and marched us to a RE. The RE made a comment (and this guy is straight to the point) that the varicocile surgery may have done nothing-which is what the urologist said as well, but we took care of the varicocile anyways. We just went through the motions to knock out anything that could be causing it. DH is also on several vitamins.
You are being pulled in many directions and I know it sucks. Just do what you have to do. I hope things get better.

I think the surgery would help...My DH had two varicoceles, they was not even large enough for the docs to feel. They did an ultrasound to find both of them. He had one on the left and one on the right. The urologist told us his counts and everything would improve with surgery. They only did surgery for the left vein, he did not think the right was causing the fertility issues. Also, my DH started to get pains in his stomach from the varicocele. We go August 18th for SA. My GYN said even if my DH numbers improve a little, we could look into IUI. It range from $200-$500. I would get a second opinion if I were you. Also pray about it.....I wish you the best and sorry for all your troubles. Sometimes we are put through obstacles in life; just consider this an obstacle course, you have to go through all the hopes and everything to get to your pregnancy. God always finds a way to help you through those obstacles in life(don't give up and just have faith). I will keep you in my prayers. Good luck.

I'm sorry that you are going through this, but stay strong. Varicoceles are treatable and there are also vitamin/ medications that can be taken to improve counts. There are still so many options for you to look into whether it be surgery, medications, IUI, IVF, donor, etc. Think of the diagnosis just as one step closer to acheiving your goal! Also, as ttc3years said, pray about it... God can do anything!

My DH had varicocele repair done in February, we conceived in May. Unfortunately, I lost the baby, but we now know that it is possible to get pregnant and DH's numbers have significantly improved. I know that it is a blessing God allowed the surgery to correct our problem so that we can conceive, and he can find a way for you too!

Best wishes and tons of
