Icon7 anyone out there?

Hello, I usually post on the TTC 2+ years but thought I would see if anyone else is dealing with MF infertility like me. I have a DD from a previous marriage and my DH now has low numbers, all I need is just one good one to find that little egg! Anyone else dealing with this? As of yet, we are still going about it naturally, anything I should be doing to up the chances??

Hey there!! My husband also has MF Issues.. His sperm count is low 8/mil and his morphology is low at 10%. We saw lots of OB docs and most of them said our only option was IVF w/ ICSI. We didn't want to believe that so we wasted many years TTC naturally. I just had my 1st appt with my FIRST Reproductive Endocrinologist and he says also that with my husbands numbers IVF w/ ICSI is our best chances. I also have a blocked tube so that doesn't help matters! He said we could unblock my tube but that still isn't going to solve issues with my husbands little boys. We've tried everything to help up his #'s .. Varicocele Repair, Fertility Blend, Zinc, Vit C. Nothing really helped!! So we have started the IVF process.. Expensive, but it will be worth every penny when we see our precious baby!! Hope everything works out for you!!!

Thanks for replying! I hope your IVF goes smooth this summer. Well, the plan as of now is to keep trying naturally until I finish nursing school, which is in about 1 more year, and then my DH said he would take the next step, which would probably be IUI. I hope we never have to get to that point. I pray for your IVF to be successful and please keep me updated!! I think I will get some zinc and folic acid for DH, can't hurt, right!

I totally ulnderstand !!! I went through nursing school full time while DH worked.. That was a few years ago.. Now, we have finally settled in and found a good RE to guide us.. I hope this IVF works for us as well.. We've wanted this for sooooooooo LONG!! I can feel it!
I hope you get pregnant before it turns into IUI or IVF.. Just gotta keep the faith.. and yes.. Zinc, Vit C. Fertility Blend.. Heard that all of them work.. My RE recommended Fertility Blend and I really do think it helped with the Motility aspect of it all!!

I've been posting on the IVF board.. You should come on over and chat with the ladies!! It's really really a great support system!! Thanks again for the well wishes.. I send baby dust your way!!

and I'll keep ya updated!! Thanks

Hi Ladies,

I am also in that boat. My DH has some pretty low numbers. I have endo as well but I had surgery for it. My husband has done it all too. His doctor said we shouldn't do more than 3 IUI's. I just had my last one and I am waiting to test until Tuesday. If we aren't preggers--I hope the IVF process gets started quickly. I think this will be the best chance for us. At least my insurance covers some of the IVF process! Thank goodness!

Keep in touch and baby dust to you both!

April

I am praying to become a mom in 2008!

Hey April,

I really really hope this is it for you too!! I hope you don't have to move on to the IVF process. Hopefully you will get that BFP before that is necessary!!! Not that its a bad thing.. but MONEY WISE.. I'm sure it is.. Our RE didn't want us to try IUI's.. He said we could but he wasn't too optimistic about the whole situation due to DH's spermies. Therefore, this is our first IVF .. no clomid, no fertility drugs.. anything.. Until now! Hopefully we all get BFP's this year!! HECK.. within a few months!!

Keep us posted!!

Hello,
I'm new here. I just finished all of my testing with my RE. We are meeting with him on Friday to find out our blood results and discuss plans. We do know that my husband has a low count. We had 2 tests done to confirm it. The first one came back at 13, the second one at 12. Fortunately I am fine structurally. My tubes are open, and I had the diagnostic hysteroscopy which only showed that I have an arcteric uterus (which means I have a little dip in the top.) My RE says he sees that often and that it isn't a big deal. I don't know if they are planning on IUI or just going right to IVF with ICSI. I'm kind of nervous about everything as we have been TTC for 3 years, 14 months of that was using a fertility monitor.
Any good thoughts are appreciated and I wish you all luck as well.

PRNCSSK,

Well.. My husband also has low count.. It was 8 mil.. but at his last check it was 12 mil. My RE told us that our best chance was IVF w/ ICSI. It does only take one but my RE seems to think that it would have happened by now if it was going to. (5 1/2 years of trying) Our insurance doesn't cover IVF or IUI so we figured we would go straight for IVF (even though more expensive) since our RE recommended it! We didn't want to potentially waste money on IUI if the RE didn't think it would work! Plus.. I have a blocked tube so our chances were even worse. Your RE will lay out your options for you. I really wish you the best of luck in whatever direction you decide to go.. Whatever it is.. we are all here! and we'll be cheering you on throughout your cycle!! Good luck!!

I should do some research on IVF's so I will feel like I know what in the world you are talking about!! Renee- I hope for the best for you and even though I am kinda new to all this terminology and stuff, I know in the end it all comes down to that desire to have a child of your own. And that I do get. Do the RE's sometimes just go right for IVF's and skip IUI's? I think I've read that alot of them don't like to do the IUI's as much. Correct me if I'm wrong though. DH started his vitamins tonite and will be gone to Michigan all next week so the timing was good there, atleast he will be gone long before I move into fertile territory! Keep me posted on your process!

Andrea..

I'm so sorry!! I guess if I wasn't going through the process or if I wasn't part of the IVF board I woudln't have a clue what I was talking about either.. Looking back at what I wrote.. ha ha I can see where you are coming from... So I apologize!! As far RE's going straight to IVF instead of IUI.. It depends on the situation. For instance, we had two factors that were contributing to us not being able to conceive.. One blocked tube for me (which means I only can get one EGG every other month) and.. My husbands sperm.. There aren't that many (even though you would think 12 million is plenty.. its really not!!) They are lazy.. They like to just sit around or swim in circles instead of having forward progression so there really isn't MUCH chance that they will reach the egg! Also.. One more reason we went straight to IVF was the cost. IUI's would have costed nearly 1,000 plus meds because our insurance won't pay for that. Our RE said IUI most likely wouldn't work since they just put the sperm into the uterus.. they would just be hanging out there since they don't move forward.. They would never fertilize the egg.. We need IVF w/ ICSI.. which is where they inject the sperm directly into the egg so that they will fertilize outside of the womb.. then they can put them back in and then we would just need them to implant to be pregnant!! SOOOOOOOOOO I'm hoping it works!!

I wish you the best of luck.. I will be praying for you.. hoping that you get your BFP without having to have any help from fertility treatments!! But.. it isn't that bad.. Having a baby is OUR DREAM that is going to come true!! BFP = big fat positive...That's what i'm hoping for! This will be our first child and we are elated.. I just can't imagine getting my first POSITIVE home pregnancy test!! I think i'll freak.. I am on this site all day long looking for hope.. and the girls on here definatley give it to you!! Come over to the IVF board and chat !! There are several that have gotten their positives recently.. and there are several going through the process right now!! If not.. I'll talk to you soon on here!!

Take care and good luck!! SORRY I WROTE SO MUCH!! long winded!! PHEW

Good Morning Renee- It seems from your post that you start Lupron today? BTW, thanks for clearing some of that up for me!! It makes much more sense to me now! Since I'm not actually going through the IVF situation now, I don't think I would feel right posting on the IVF board, but I do read some of the posts. But it is nice to know it is available if I should ever need the support. My DH just left for Michigan til Friday, so I will have more time to browse around on the boards this week! Let us know how things are going, I agree with you that if I ever saw a BFP on a test stick, I would probably end up passed out on the bathroom floor before I could even tell DH!! Talk to you soon.

Hi Ladies~ I just got done reading all of your posts...I know how it feels, MY DH had a VR in October and his numbers are not what we had prayed for. His last SA was under 1 million, the Dr's have told us that IVF is our best option, but we are still paying on the the VR and don't have the $$ to go for IVF, so everymonth I just pray and hope that there are more swimmers

So glad to see this board moving again! I haven't posted or even lurked on this board in probably well over a year. My name is Sheri and DH and I have been TTC for about 2 years now. DH has a varicocele which impairs his sperm. He has a Dr. appointment Thursday to get the ball rolling with getting it repaired. I sure hope it helps. It is our only and last resort. I look forward to getting to know all of you.

Andrea: I did start Lupron yesterday.. My DH was soooo excited to JAB ME!! Actually didn't feel a thing!! but then again I got more than enough fat! I gave myself the shot tonight (cuz he is working) without any problems.. Not a problem at all!!

Carrie: Never give up hope and keep praying and your prayers will be answered. Remember it only takes 1 sperm and you have 1 million in there!! Is his morphology normal ?? and motility ? and all that good stuff ? We really struggled with the whole IVF issue also. Money was a big issue but we can afford it right now because I'm working. If it doesn't work the 1st month, then there might be some problems.. Even though I know its going to!!

Sheri: So excited for you to get things going!! My husband had a Varicocele repair in Aug 2004 then went off to Iraq a month later so we never knew if it worked (knowing that it takes several months for the sperm to regenerate completely). When he got home from his 1 year tour in Iraq he got tested and it did help slightly.. but ya never know.. his numbers are up and down and up and down.. they change everytime he gets it done!! I wish you luck and hope this helps your DH!!

BFP VIBES TO ALL OF YOU!!

Hey Sheri- nice to see you over here! Glad to see your DH has his appt Thurs. It will be nice to get things moving in the right direction.

Carrie- Don't let the numbers get to you- Just keep about it. God can make something from nothing if it's in the plan!!!

Renee- Wow, your DH must be some guy to give you the shots. I dont think my DH would be up to that!! Are there any side effects from Lupron??

My DH will be back in town right around prime BD time. How cool is that?
