Default Lactose Intolerant?

I normally have at least 2 great big glasses of ice cold milk a day. Last night, I had a small glass of chocolate milk, and got sick. I wasn't nauseous, but my stomach just felt off and I felt blah. I didn't really think anything of it since I ate with the milk, I thought I just had too much food. This morning, I had another glass of choc. milk, just that, and got the same sick feeling I did last night. After I was feeling better (probably about 4 hours or so later), I decided to try a glass of white milk, and sure enough I felt sick again. Could my body be going lactose intolerant? Do you think it will pass over? I've never had this problem before, it's so strange!

Well, I was a huge huge huge Milk drinker before I got pregnant with my son. But, almost as soon as I got my postive HPT I couldn't touch milk or really anything that was a concentrated dairy product. It'd make me very very upset to my stomach and the only relief came from throwing it up. It lasted my entire pregnancy. Oddly enough, my son was born with a severe milk intollerance and reflux.. He had to be on Alimentum formula. It wasn't until he was 2 years old that I was finally able to introduce milk to him that he began to tollerate it. As for me, milk hasn't been the same to me since. I can't drink much of it now or I will feel sick. So, I think it's certainly possible. My doctor told me that pregnancy can bring out dormant allergies.

Wow I have never heard of that. I can only hope that it's just an aversion.

I have heard/read that your body will reject anything that the baby doesn't want/need. Its possible that the baby cannot tolerate dairy or that you are getting enough dairy from other sources. I would cut it out for a bit and try again in a few weeks. As long as you are getting the calcium and vitamin D from other sources, you should be fine.

Temporary lactose intolerance isn't uncommon, especially if you've had some ms issues lately. It probably will pass, either later in the pgcy or after baby comes. As you get older though, your chance does get greater of actually becoming LI though.
