38 week appointment
Midwife appointments in the netherlands are extremely basic and usually very quick. Blood pressure is taken by the secretary who makes the next appointment, and she has a scale in her office too if you want to be weighed, but that's only by request after the first two or three appointments.
Once in the actual midwife's office, questions, changes, and concerns are gotten out of the way and then comes uterus palpation and the heartbeat, which is only measured if they feel it's off.. If nothing looks out of the ordinary, the appointment is over.
Which is why I don't get to give ya a cervix progress update or a strep B test results or whatnot, cause I have no clue XD
However, we did get a chuck of bad news and a pinch of good news. The midwife and her intern both think the baby might have turned head up, but they can't tell for 100% certain, and so the pinch of good news is we get a third ultrasound to determine how Danny's laying. The bad news is...well. If Danny did go heads up, life is gonna suck. No peaceful home birth. Head's up babies are generally delivered by c-section, or at least the hospital prefers to do it that way. I don't think I could argue much against it, I can't decide between the lesser of two evils: c-section or a breech delivery.
I think if he /did/ turn head up (he was definitely head down at the 37wk appointment), it was last night. His movements were so strong and frequent, it felt like he was trying to tear out through my belly rather than finding the right exit >.> Which means, that there /might/ be enough room for the doctors to try and turn him head down again.
And of course, this is all hypothetical until we have the ultrasound, which will be no later than Monday (too late to make an appointment today, so we're calling tomorrow).
Merf. -whine- I dun wanna c-section. D: I wanna stick with the PLAN. -pokes Danny- You! Stay in your room till you can learn to listen!
