Default Should the family sacrifice one child to save the other?

Twins joined at the head were born in Vancouver, BC last Wednesday.

Do you think an attempt should be made to separate these twins at some point?

Is it worth the risk? What if one or both twins were at risk to die or have brain damage due to the separation? Should the twins themselves have the option to choose, once they are older?

Interestingly enough, I was at the hospital having a laparoscopy at the same time these twins were born. My husband was in the waiting room with the family...
