What would you do if your child asked you if he/she could get a mohawk?

Does age matter?

I would not mind if my children asked for a Mohawk. One has wanted one before, but his hair was a little too short, so he decided to wait. And the other does not one at all, he is very clean cut.
I don't think it matters at all.

I would let him/her, at any age.

I'm asking because my 4 year old told DH and I at dinner tonight he wanted a mohawk. His friend Zion has one and DS thought it was really cool.

We were a bit taken aback, to say the least, but we told him if he wanted a mohawk, to go ahead and tell Tori (the girl at daycare who cuts his hair) to give him a mohawk next time she cuts his hair.

My mom would have flipped out if either I or my brothers would have asked for such a haircut, but I don't feel that way at all. And apparently, neither do the rest of you.

I don't see anything wrong with it, it's not something permanent like a tattoo at age 4 just because they think it's cool.

OMG, they are so cool. I wish DH would get one, dye his hair blue again and tattoo blue flames on the side of his head. That would be sooooo hot. If my son at any age wanted to get one I would let him. Of course we are a punk loving family anyway.

Oh they can ask, but the answer will be NO. Well, first I would ask them why and a typical answer would probably be "because my friends have one" and THEN I would say no. I don't want my kids to do things just because their friends are doing it.

Age? Not sure while they live in my home they will ever have one at any age.
