This is a discussion on How much fast food is too much? within the Debate forums, part of the Say Anything category; Do you take your kids out for fast food? If so, do you limit the amount?
I have a friend ...
We might get it twice a year at the most. I think that it's definately something that should be avoided for the most part. It's a nice treat, but should stay just that, a treat. It shouldn't replace several healthy meals a month , and especially not several a week.

If we do fast food we are more likely to get Subways then McDonald's. We just prefer the food. Not to say that we always get the healthiest of sub choices from there but I think it tends to be better for you. I can't remember when we last went to burger joint, last month surely? Maybe December? I think more then once a week is definitely too much. That is just a gut reaction though.
Oh, I have to add that one of the main reason I try to avoid fast food is because of my husband. My children have very little interest in it.
My husband, on the other hand, can't control himself lol A king sized, quad stacker meal, with a milk shake, and an extra quad stacker on the side is just asking for a heart attack. Although, lately, he's "just" been getting a king sized double whopper meal. *sigh* So... I suggest going home, or stopping at subway whenever he glances at BK.
We eat fast food wayyyy more than we should. Probably once a week. We have been chaning the way we eat and order, and it is taking some time to get used to it.
That being said, I don't see a problem with it about once a month. Most fast food place are now going to a more healthy direction with some of their choices.
The thing with my son, is that he hates the toddlers favorite food, French Fries!! So he get apples or a veggie side.

Of course, I don't have any kids yet. But no Macdonalds for them once I get the kids! Dh loves fast food, but I think it's disgusting. I can't help but think of that movie "super-size me" every time I look at Macdonalds.
It gives me the Macgurgles and the Macvomits, lol!
I bought my kids fast food once in the past two years. It was a treat. I happened to be passing it on my way home, it was late and I was sick and didnt feel like making dinner, so i stopped in at BK and brought them some junk food. They were super happy. lol.
Generally, we stick to organic, locally grown when possible, non-processed food. Friday is treat day, which means we might have pizza or perogies or sumthing like that. Otherwise it is protein, veggies, complex carbs. (whole grains)
But I feel that they need to have a treat once a week so they dont go nutso, . But fast food is almost NEVER part of our diet.
However, when their dad gets them, he feeds them all sorts of junk. It really p*sses me off.

I will not give Kendall fast food until she is MUCH older...and then it will be limited to a special treat. We are trying really hard to focus on good nutrition for her. We still really don't give her juice or any sugar filled foods. She really enjoys dairy (tons of milk and cheese) so we stick to that with whole grain breads, pasta, meats and veggies (well, we're currently on a veggie strike, but we're working on them..LOL). Kendall enjoys eggs, oatmeal and toast in the morning, fruit for a snack, grilled cheese for lunch and whatever we eat for dinner (usually a meat, potato and veggie). At night she snacks on goldfish crackers, fruit or graham crackers.
My confession.....I eat McDonalds about 4 times per week. The employees know me at the drive thru.....how sad is that?!?

We eat fast food once a month...maybe. Of course our favorite fast food place closed in December due to flooding and they won't be re-opening. That leaves us(at the moment)with McDonalds...YUCK. Once a month is what we are at now, however, this summer we are getting my FAVORITE fast food place...Burger King, so..we may be eating out 2-3 times a month at that point. One thing I don't get my kids when getting a happy meal is pop...they get chocolate milk.

It depends on what you're getting. Most food at fast food joints is junk. So, I'd say if you can afford it by going there every day or even a few times a week, more power to you but your body won't be healthy
I ate a lot more fast food when I was pregnant than I care to admit. Couldn't help myself and I blame those nasty pregnancy hormones on it! Now that I have a baby at home I seldom eat it---maybe once or twice a month at most. One reason is because it isn't so fast whenyou have to get a baby ready to leave the house. The other reason is because it just doesn't taste as good as something I would cook at home and besides that, I have to get this baby weight off!!
I do not want Ben to eat it very often when he is old enough to eat adult food. I am sure he will haveit once in awhile, but not every day or every week. Probably about like me---once a month.
We eat take away usually once a week, which includes either Fish n Chips, Pizza, Hungry Jacks (we get discount, as my DS works there) or Chicken & Chips, as these r the cheapest.
Occassionally we go and get Maccas (McDonalds). We all love Maccas, but it is just to expensive .
I cook every night of the week, except for a Friday, which is our Take Away night.
We usually eat take-away once a month or so, we might have it once a week for a few weeks then nothing for months. If we do have McDOnalds I try to opt for one of the salads and in Australia (not sure about US) we now have healthy pasta meals with milk instead of soda for the kids. I try to set a good example but if it were up to DH then we'd have it almost every day YUCK!
