Default Donor sperm?

Would you consider using it? Would you tell anyone if you did? Would you tell the child? Do you think it would be better to use a "friends" sperm or an anonymous donor?

I'm sure somebody would know.
Would you tell the child?
Eventually.

My personal preference would be anonymous.

I would consider using it if d/h and I both felt it was the only way we could raise a child together.
Would I tell anyone... hm. I guess I probably would. Im pretty open about stuff like that.
Would I tell the child. Well, I guess we would have to. Otherwise I would feel guilty about it for the rest of my life. It would be an awkward situation probably, and it would be the only thing that would make me think long and hard about doing this. How would the child feel, when would be the right age to tell, etc.
Anonymous would be my preference most definitely.
If I was a single person, and wanted to have a child for myself, then I would possibly discuss it with a good male friend of mine and see how they would feel about donating sperm to me. If they were willing, then I would allow him to be known as the father.

This is interesting. What exactly would you feel guilty about?

Would you consider using it? Yes, if DH was infertile

Would you tell anyone if you did? Yes, why hide it!!

Would you tell the child? Definately.

Do you think it would be better to use a "friends" sperm or an anonymous donor? An anonymous donor.

I'm not the person you are asking, but if it were me I'd feel guilty not telling my child that he isn't genetically related to the person he knew as his father, for medical reasons if for no other. I think a father is the person who has the role of father in child's life and not the sperm donor, but there may be things the child needs to know, or explanations as to why s/he looks nothing like Dad, etc that knowing a sperm donor was used could explain.
