Comment overheard by a teen...
Hubby came in the other night and said he overheard the conversation of these 2 girls walking down the street. They were teens, probably around 15-16. They were evidently discussing the fact one of them thought she was pregnant a few days ago. The one laughed and said "yeah, if I am maybe all this smoking will kill it."
Would that bother you? Would you say anything?

Re: Comment overheard by a teen...
yes it would bother me, i think it's wrong to have sex and not take the consquences for your actions. it teens think they are mature enough for sex they sure enough better be mature enough to raise a kid. i did it. i got pregnant as a teen, but i stepped up and took care of my child. he is raised very well. the stupid guy left us when i waspg but i have raised my son as a single parent and there is nothing i wouldnt do for my son. i recently got married and my hubbby and i are expecting another baby.

I find the statement sad and unfortunate, but not unexpected.

It would bother me. One time when I was in high school at lunch I over heard a girl talking about an abortion she had the week before as if it was something she did every day.

Re: Comment overheard by a teen...
Yeah, it would bother me. But I don't think I'd say anything. It wouldn't be my place to say anything, because it's not my business. And it's not like saying anything would make any difference, anyway. I'll leave the parenting to her parents. To give her the benefit of the doubt, I wonder if this "joke" was made in some other context that we don't understant. Pretty bad joke, obviously, but maybe she didn't really mean for it to be taken seriously. Was she smoking at the time? If she was, that would bother me more than the comment she made. Nothing like a pregnant teenager smoking...

Re: Comment overheard by a teen...
I would be disturbed at first, but then realize that teenagers say stupid things like that to look cool. Deep down she didn't mean it (I hope). She said that to compensate for being scared. Or, maybe she really doesn't have respect for life, and that is a parenting issue.

Re: Comment overheard by a teen...
Well that depends, what part of town was it. LOL Nah just kiddin..but i would have looked in her eyes before i made a comment, if i made one at all. If i saw that she was scared then i would definitly would say something. In this case I would see it as her trying to ask for help. Thats just how kids are...they make it seem like they dont have a clue, so someone can give them one. Crazy huh...well thats society for ya.
