Test results...where do I go from here?

Hi Ladies. I hope you all are doing well.

Dh kept bugging me today to call the RE for my auto immune panel test results, so I just called her.

Everything came back normal. I am very upset and in shock. As strange as it sounds, I actually WANTED there to be something that showed up on the test results, so I could see the problem and take steps to fix it, so we can move on w/ our treatments and hopefully someday bring home a baby.

How in the world am I supposed to fight something I can't see? I asked her what typically happens when the results are normal and the pt keeps having m/c and she said we just keep doing what we're doing. She offered IVF w/ PGD, but w/ my 2nd loss they wouldn't have been able to tell there was anything wrong b/c they only test for certain abnormalities AND my RE said I do great w/ IUI, got pg 2 out of 3 times and the one time it didn't work, dh had a terrible count and low quality sperm.

Any thoughts ladies?? I am just numb. I just knew there was something to this auto immune thing. I feel like I'm standing in the road and have no idea where to go.....

I'm so sorry you are going through this. Has the doctor talked to you at all about using Clomid along with IUI? If there is a chance that the issue is egg quality, sometimes Clomid can fix that. I wish I had something more to tell you. Do they check your progesterone with each of the pregnancies? My mother had recurrent m/c, and they determined it was a progesterone issue - she had to take shots of progesterone throughout her pregnancies to carry to term.

Hopefully, you can get an appt with the RE and talk about other options - there may still be things left to test for . . .

This must be so frustrating for you - I'm so sorry. I hope you can get some answers.

Thank you for responding... I already take Femara cd 3-7, Menopur injections on cd 3,5,7 & 9,Ovidrel injection for trigger, IUI then progesterone suppositories 2x daily until pg is confirmed or af shows. I also take prentals and baby aspirin.

I have been on Clomid before but it made my lining too thin. Not to mention the mood swings! haha

Not sure where we go from here...will have to dh and the RE to discuss...

Wellll Angie....I really am not sure what to tell ya...I thought that it would come back with your answer too......BUT atleast it is normal?!?!?

I do know that when I had my m/c it was a lining issue...they still did clomid but upped the lining med (forget which one it was)....

You will have to follow your heart....are you willing to take the chance?? I would talk in detail with your re what would there plan be then you and dh decide if it is a plan you can follow threw with....

I am constantly prayin for ya!!!! keep us posted!!!

Hi angie,

Your tests came back like mine, showing nothing was up,

I had my initial tests done in 1995 in london and then when i worked at mayo in mn i had them redone and still the same,

I just have come to the conclusion it was a dud egg and it was natures way.

It is very frustrating as people always say " surely they can do miracles these days".

I wont give up and hope with ivf and icsi we will be over a couple of the trouble spots that we have now.

Please keep positive, like you say to me, i do know when ive gone to pieces i annovulate which sends me loopy, like a vicious circle im kinda trapped in and spinning around in.

Oh Angie, I'm so sorry. I know what you're going through. My last 2 m/c's were also normal female, with my RPL panel normal, as well. For once you want abnormal results, so I understand the turmoil you must be feeling. Its frutrating, to say the least!

In my case, my RE suggested IVIG or LIT. His thoughts are that my body is attacking the fetus as a foreign object. IVIG is just WAY too expensive (for us now) and LIT is not performed in the US. Many, many couples go to Mexico, but at this point DH & I just aren't ready to do that.

There are a lot of sites & support boards for immunes issues that I've visited so if you're interested in them, just PM me & I'd be happy to share any info I can.

Again, I'm so sorry for what you're going through.

In a nutshell, I realized there are 2 options-- either keep going or quit. Of course there are different treatments we can do but so far they don't know what's causing the m/c the educated guess was a bad egg.??

That being said, dh said he is in no way ready to quit. He said "I know in my heart you don't want to either, so you need to put the negative out of your head and think of it this way--if there's nothing wrong but a couple of bad eggs, eventually it will work." "But we have to keep trying." Argh! Always the voice of reason and udderly aggravating common sense! lol So, we move forward we'll do another IUI in October and if that doesn't end well we will talk about our options.

Thanks again ladies...I've got a good case of stubborn going now after the initial shock and I will get pg again!!
