Ladies,

I was wondering how many IUIs it took to get your bfp? My RE suggested 2 injectable/trigger/IUI cycles for me before considering IVF but I've been reading some of your posts and see that some of you got your bfps on your 3rd IUI cycle.

I had a TR last year and I have one open tube/one blocked tube. My dh's sa for my IUI was 93 million with 80% mobitiy. My first IUI cycle looked as if it was a chemical pregnancy. I hate to admit that I was one of those people that was naive in thinking that my first injectables and IUI cycle would work...how do you stay motivated to do it again? I'm wondering if I should ask my RE for a 3rd chance with IUI if my 2nd one doesn't work.

I just had my first IUI and took a test today and it was negative. I was deinitely one of those naive people that just knew it would work and cried when it did not. So, I am sorry that I am not much help. I am definitely going to try this a few more times before jumping into IVF. Good luck to you!!

Hi Amanda, Thanks for your reply. Sorry about your bfn. Did your dr say how many IUIs before going to IVF? My dr suggested 2 IUI cycles for me but I don't know why...maybe he doesn't have hope that any more than that would work for me. Thanks and I admire your motivation!

I did 2 cycles of IUI clomid before trying Injectibles. I did get pregnant my first Injectibles cycle but m/c. I then conceived Twins on my 2nd Injectibles cycle but lost one in the first trimester. I think if you pushed your RE for a 3rd try then he would give in.

Personally, I had started with 3 IUI cycles with Clomid (all bfn). I then decided to take a break for 3 months and we conceived naturally during that time.
Our plan was to take a 3 mth break over the summer and then move to Injectables/IUIs for 3 cycles, then IVF.

What my dr was very direct about is that it was up to us for how aggressive we wanted to be. We could have done more IUI/Clomid sessions, etc.

All of our fertility treatments were covered by our health insurance. We learned that our insurance didn't care how many IUI/Clomid cycles we did, but it would only cover 3 IUI/injectable cycles and then would need us to move to IVF.

Ask your doctor why he/she is suggesting just 2 cycles. And consider your options. You can opt for the 3rd if that's your preference.
