Default Mthfr

Hi, I was wondering if anyone here has this bloodclotting mutation? I just found out that I have it and it could have been the cause of my baby being born stillborn at 38 weeks. I was wondering how your doctor treats it? I go back to the RE this week (he got me pregnant last year through IUI with one follicle! and my first IUI) I was so happy... but then my son was born still in July... It has been a very hard road but I know God has a reason for everything. I just was wondering if anyone knows about this condition.

Thanks, Heidi

Hey sweetheart. How are you doing? I still pray for you and your sweet angel. I pray for you to find peace as well. I am still so sorry for your unbearable loss.

I wanted to tell you a good friend of mine has Mthfr. She had a m/c at 12 weeks and then a still born at 24 weeks. She was devastated She found out she had the clotting issue after the still born. Her RE treated her with Metformin (sp?) and folic acid. She delivered a healthy baby boy 4 months ago.

I hope that helps Let us know what your RE says. I look so forward to seeing that you are expecting again - let us know so we can pray for your sweet baby and know that he or she will have the most amazing angel brother watching over them forever

Heidi, I've been thinking about you. I hope you are healing...

This is exactly what I was tested for earlier this month. I know a girl who had factor v lieden, a clotting disorder, she lost her son at 14 or 16 wks and I think had a few m/c as well. She went on heparin injections daily and now has a healthy baby boy. The thing is, she had a problem free first pregnancy when she delivered her oldest son. I thought that odd, but according to her it happens sometimes.

I hope we can both get through our problems and bring our babies home soon.

Oh btw, my tests came back normal, so my recurring losses are as of yet unexplained. I am waiting on a call from RE's nurse about this next protocol. When will you start yours?

Take care sweetie and please keep us posted.

I am so sorry for your loss! My thoughts are with you.

I know several people with mthfr. Some of my friends had to take heparin injections. One of my friends only had to take extra folic acid.

I have a blood clotting disorder...PA1 - which I had to take heparin injections throughout my pregnancy.

Let us know what the RE said! Good luck!

I have this.

Are you hetero or homo for MTHFR? Some huge number of the population is home for MTHFR. Something liek 40%. You should get your homcyctine levels checked to see if the MTHFR is causing a problem in your body. If your homocyctine is not elevated than your MTHFR is probably not causing a problem. I was prescribed Metnex, which is a broken down form of folic acid with some B vitamins. If you have MTHFR, you may not be able to use folic acid properly so a regular folic acid supplement may not work. You need the partially digested form. I will also be take Lovenox, which is like Heparin. It's a blood thinner.
