More IUI Inquires! :)

My first IUI is scheduled for this Thursday and, like always, I have a ton of questions now that I've had time to think and the RE's office is closed!

-My ultrasound today showed 4 follicles measuring between 17-20.6 mm. My doctor seemed pleased with how I responded to this cyle/combo of meds but just out of curiosity, how many follicles is too many? I've heard alot of you say that you've had IUI's cancelled because of too many follies.

-DH is to give me my trigger tomorrow. I've only had one before and the nurse did it in my arm. Where do you usually inject?

-Another annoying insurance question... I found out that my IUI is going to be about $167 out of pocket but I never thought to ask if the sperm washing will be a separate charge. Was it for any of you? Happen to remember how much it was?

I'm gonna call my RE office tomorrow to find out for sure how my clinic takes care of these issues but I figured I'd get somewhat of an idea from you pros! You gals always ease my tension!

I don't know much about follicles, I never had Ultrasounds with my cycles. But I did have three IUI's on femera and the washing was included with the IUI cost.

My RE told us to do the trigger in the hip, but I know some gals give it to themselves in the belly.

I gave myself my trigger shot in my thigh. My consultant gave me a choice of stomach, thigh or butt.

It wasnt that painful,i felt kind of brave!.

I had 3 follicles when my iui was done, im in england so i have to pay for all my fertility treatment, this iui ( im 10 dpiui) has cost me £900, which is around $1800, so im sure yours will be cheaper.

I had my IUI cancelled last month. I had like 6 mature bigger than 17mm and like (3)16mm.
I just had my IUI on Sunday so I am 2 dpiui. I had (2) 19mm and (1) 17mm
My trigger shot I got to do myself. It was Ovridel. You don't have to put it in the muscle so its easier. I just injected like my follitism.
With insurance. My insurance pays for RE visits, meds, u/s and b/w.
I'm pretty sure they will cover the IUI.

My IUIs are $200 for the IUI ($225 on weekends) and an additional $135 for sperm washing. Total $335 or $360.

It is up to you how many follies are too many. You just have to know that you can get pregnant with that many. I have had an IUI with 6 and 7 follies before and i didn't get pregnant but I got pregnant with 1 follie. You just have to be aware that they might want to reduce if you get pregnant with too many becasue it can be harmful for you and the babies. 4 follies sounds perfect to me.

My trigger was given in my butt once and I did it in my stomach when I did them myself. It isn't as bad as you might think. My only problem was for my first trigger I didn't push hard enough so it made it uncomfortable. The needle is thicker than my follistim needle was so I wasn't doing it right.

Thanks so much for sharing, girls! I ended up getting the trigger in my rear. I can't believe how crazy scared I was of the injections. It was a piece of cake! Anyone else that might be getting ready to have injections for the first time, don't worry! The anticipation is the worst part of it all!

How long did you all have to abstain before your IUI? My doctor told us not to bd anymore when we went for the u/s on Monday but my IUI isn't until Thursday. I'm so nervous about it because I did have that 20.6 follicle, I really wanted to have some precautionary bd just in case that one decided to pop early!

I got my shot in my butt. We bd'd the night of the trigger and then the night of or morning after the IUI. We paid $400.00 per IUI which included the sperm washing.
