I've been lurking forever..and I'm finally coming out!
Hey ladies! My name is Erin & I hope to get to know all of yall soon. My husband and I are doing our 2nd IUI in about 7 hours (I cant sleep!), so I figured I'd stop lurking and post some of my questions. Here are a few things about me...
*We've been TTC #1 since June 06
*I did 6 rounds of clomid, never ovulated
*I've had 1 very early m/c & 2 chemicals (all related to low progesterone..I'm on pills in my
2ww for that ever since they figured out the problem)
*I have PCOS
*Husband has NORMAL SA. Last IUI it was 67 million AFTER wash.
*I just had my HSG 2 weeks ago, showing everything was normal
I think that covers all of the "facts" that yall need to know. Last IUI we only had 2 eggs and from the beginning my e2 was screwy. I was started on follistim 100 on day 3 of my cycle. When I went in for my follie scan & b/w on CD9, my largest follie was a 1.2 (only one) and my e2 was a 41 (they said they liked to see it at at LEAST 100 at this point). SO, they put me on menopur 150ius for the next week and a half and kind of "forced" my e2 up. Two days before my IUI my e2 was 480 and I had 2 follicles that were 19mm/1.9cm. That cycle didn't work..I developed 7 large cysts and had to wait out a cycle.
THIS time they decided to start me on the Follistim & the Menopur at the same time, from the get-go (CD3). Well when we went to pick up our meds, we discovered that menopur was only covered for ONE cycle so we had to do without it. They up'ed my follistim dosage up to 300 hoping that would do the trick. On CD9, my e2 was a 608 (HUGE improvement..and without the meds!), and I had 4 follies measuring at 1.4. I was so happy! Well I went back in Saturday for my repeat follie scan & b/w to make sure I was ready for my IUI on Monday. Well I have a e2 level of 1980 (which they SAY indicates about 10 mature eggs) but on the u/s machine they only saw 7 at these sizes:
*3 that were 16mm/1.6cm
*3 that were 17mm/1.7cm
*1 that was 19mm/1.9cm
They told me that I was at high risk for High Order Multiples but I choose to go ahead with the IUI. We triggered saturday night & made love a few hours later. I NEVER got up, just stayed in the bed, fell asleep, and woke up at 6am this morning. NOTHING came out of me...it was all stuck in there (sorry TMI). But I'm so glad it didn't leak back out! (And I'm sure he ejaculated, as there was some stuck to him and I could feel it) (Again, sorry TMI). So we skipped BDing on Sunday and are going in at 8:30 for him to give his sample & at 10:00 is my IUI. We will BD again tomorrow night and then Tue & Wed JUST IN CASE.
I know you ladies are not psychic or anything..but you seem very knowledgeable of everything pertaining to IUI/fertilization/implantation and so on. My question for you is...Knowing everything I've told you, how good do you think my chances are for getting pregnant this cycle? I'm hoping that having my HSG 2 weeks ago cleaned out any microscopic residue that was in my tubes. Even though my results were normal, I've heard you have an increased chance of getting pregnant for up to 3 months after having this procedure done. I'm hoping that with my 7-10 eggs and having freshly cleaned tubes that SOMETHING will take!
Also, I have a concern about when we had sex Saturday night, I didnt have ANY ewcm. Is it still possible for the swimmers to get up there where they are supposed to be? Like, could I possibly have some ewcm but it just dont make it down to my cervix, so I never see it? I hear high estrogen makes your ewcm increase..and since my estrogen is VERY high, I would assume that I'd have some..whether I can see it or not. Have any of yall ever gotten pregnant without seeing the EWCM? I just wonder if I have it but I dont see it. Hmmm.
OH, and my last question is. I did my shot at 8pm Sat night. We had sex about 1:30 am Sat night/Sun morning and our IUI is at 10am Mon. Do you think that sounds timed alright? Can you tell me what YALLs normal routine is when you do the IUI? I just like to compare myself to others to see if my doctor is doing things right. I really felt Ovulation pains Sun night from about 7pm-12am. If I DID in fact ovulate when I was feeling those pains, will it be too late to do the IUI Monday at 10am? I know that the egg can be fertilized anywhere from 12-24 hours after ovulation, but when they do the IUI and deposit the washed sperm directly into your uterus, how much further do they have to swim to reach the egg?
I'm also concerned about my follicle sizes. Are 7 eggs ranging from 16mm-19mm normal? I'm clueless about follicle sizes! Oh, and what percentages of eggs ACTUALLY fertilize? I've heard 1 out of 3, but I didnt know how true that was. And for those that DO fertilize, how likely is it for them to implant? (Giving that your progesterone is nice and high with a good thick linning)
Well I guess I'll stop asking so many questions now! Sorry for the novel! Thanks girl for puttin up with all of my questions. If you dont feel like answering them, then thanks for reading anyways!. TIA!
~Erin
