Hi,
I'm pretty sure my 4th IUI has failed. I have a consultation with my doctor next Tuesday, and I'm not sure what she's going to say about how many IUI's she'll let me do. So far we haven't found anything wrong with me or dh. I've done the last 2 IUI's with clomid, and that seems to do what it's supposed to. How many IUI's will/has your doctor let you do before your protocol was changed?

I have done 5 iui with Clomid in the past BFP, but each month my RE says how well I react to the meds. We went to injectables this time around because I wanted to step it up. It seems like more people get BFP's with injectables. He said 4-6 with injectables before we have to move to IVF. He said he is confident that I will have success it is just a matter of which month will be the month. You are only at 12 dpo so there is still a chance. Good luck to you!

It really depends on your doctor. Some doctors are more conservative and like to give it some time while other doctors are more aggressive with treatment. Most likely your doctor will suggest injectibles with IUI before pursing anything more drastic. That's what happened to me. Our infertility is also unexplained and I responded well to just clomid but it wasn't doing the job. Much better success rates with injectibles. My doctor is more conservative-I've done 6 IUI's and the last two resulted in positive pregnancy tests. Unfortunately, the first was an ectopic and this last one was a miscarriage. My doctor is very optimistic and wants to try another IUI before considering IVF. Good luck to you and keep us posted!

You can see my journey in my signature. My doc wanted to try Clomid for as long as possible before moving to injectables. I think that the stats are that if it doesn't happen in 4 cycles with Clomid, the chances drop from there unless protocol is changed. I did more clomid/IUI cycles because my doc wanted to see if it would work after my fibroid removal surgery. It feels good to change protocols. It feels hopeful. Good luck to you.

I am hopeful after reading that you had a successful IUI after a myomectomy. I had 2 lrge fibroids removed after my c-section with my last baby and have been trying to conceive after resting for 1 year post delivery. Today I got my AF at least I think I have, 14dpiui. I am already planning for the next cycle. Maybe this will be the time!!!

I did 3 IUI's, each time with an increasing dosage of clomid. After the 3rd IUI, the doctor suggested that I either continue IUI with a different facility, or move to IVF. We ended up going the IVF route and that worked out the first time.
