icon16 Finally my birth story (pg ment) :)

Hi everyone...

Sorry this took so long, the days go by really fast when you have 2 babies to take care of and 2 older kids

Anyhow, Sept 1st - I asked my mom to watch my 4yr old and 1 1/2 yr old sons so my husband and I could go out and spend time together alone for the last time in a while. We went up to Lake Erie, which is about 1 1/2 hours away. We had a great time and we went out to eat in the evening. As we were leaving, I used the restroom and started bleeding. It was not a bloody show...it was quite a bit more than that. I called the doc to see if she wanted me to go to a hospital by Lake Erie. She said to get our butts back to the hospital by me and to go to a nearby hospital if my contractions get really close together.

During the car ride, I was laughing because my husband was so scared I was going to give birth on the turnpike. I made it to the hospital, I was 3 cm. They watched me for an hour...checked me and I was 4, so I was admitted. I just turned 34 weeks and they would not stop my labor They admitted me and checked me - I was 5 cm. They decided to do an u/s, and baby B was transverse, so they decided to do an emergency c-section. It completely caught me off guard because I had been doing so well in my pregnancy. I was determined to make it to 37 weeks because I wanted my babies to go home with me. Now I was forced to deal with having babies in the special care nursery and all the preemie issues that comes along with it. Needless to say, I was a blubbering mess! Babies were born Sept 2nd - Baby A (Alex) was born at 8:09 am - 18 1/2" long - 4lbs 15.5 oz. Baby B (Zach) was born at 8:12 am - 19" long - 5 lbs 10 oz.

Zach spent 8 days in the special care nursery and Alex had to spend 12 days in the hospital due to feeding issues. But they are home now and they are doing wonderful! Zach doesn't look like a "preemie" now - he looks like a full term infant. They do really well at night. I have to set my alarm every 3 hours to feed them and they sleep the rest of the night, which I was told won't last very long. The nurse said around the time they reach their due date, they will turn into a normal "infant" and keep us up at night. I hope she is wrong!!!!

Anyhow, here are just a couple of pics.

Here is our going home picture with Alex...

Once again, thanks to all of you for all of your support. As you all are aware, infertility sucks and so do all the treatments that go along with it and I thank God that you are my internet buddies.

Tracy - that is a crazy story. I bet DH was freaked out, I would have been too! And of course you were 1.5 hours from home....geez! I am glad you were able to make it home and even though you had them at 34 weeks they sound like they did really well growing. I love the pics, thanks for sharing. I have seen a pic of you before and I do not remember you looking like that. Maybe it is the glasses. I don't think the other pic you posted you were in glasses. You're gorgeous either way, especially for just having twins!! I sure hope the boys stay on their current sleeping schedule, that would be great for all!! Keep us posted on everyone's progress.

Congratulations, Tracy! I'm so glad the boys are home and doing well! I can't imagine how scary it must have been on the ride to the hospital and then finding out you had to have a c-sect. Zach and Alex are adorable!

I am so glad to read your birth story, I am having twin girls and am getting scared of labor. I want so much to have a vaginal birth, but I understand that c-sections have to happen sometimes. Your boys are beautiful! Cant wait to see my girls.

Tracy! The boys are adorable!

Know that you're not alone in the getting up every 3 hours to feed...I have to do the same with Owen (although the pedi said I could finally let him sleep until he wakes up but I feel guilty doing it!)!
