Default Anyone done injectibles w/o insemination?

Just wondering if anyone has done this. It appears my insurance will pay for all monituring just not the actual insemination.
We were thinking at some point if we can't pay for iui just doing the injecibles with bedding.

i haven't done it... but i think i would if it came down to it... just knowing that i will be monitored would make me feel better... and if you think about it... BD'ing can be just as effective as an IUI as long as you have fertile CM... and DH's SA is good. maybe you could even try some preseed to make sure everything goes well.

good luck

I don't know of anyone who did injectibles w/o iui...but I am sure people have done it before. Inseminations are cheap (in the IF world) - I paid $200 - $250 for each insemination. The meds are what is expensive...One vial of Gonal F (450 multidose) was over $400 and I used 7 boxes when I got my BFP with the twins.

Good luck!

well my doc is charging me $650 for the insemination. I do pay for meds but all of my monitoring is covered by insurance. After my 2nd iui I only have enough money for meds, so I am considering doing this.

$650 is VERY expensive for IUI. I pay approximately $350 (including sperm washing) and my clinic is overpriced. I would inquire if the price is correct and ask for special pricing as a CASH patient.

My doctor says that in a case where there is good sperm count/quality and favorable conditions for implantation IUI only provides a slight increase in odds for pregnancy. That being said, since I pay upwards of $2K for meds per cycle, an extra $350 adds a much needed layer of emotional security.

If you can’t afford the IUI and have favorable conditions for implantation you should not need IUI. That being said, I would question the clinic’s pricing – sounds like your clinic may be overcharging. Clinics often bill a different price to clients who pay cash than they would insurance companies – the same is true of pharmacies such as Freedom Drug. Be assertive – the money you may save could finance another month of treatment!
