Okay, so I had my second ultrasound on Friday and we were able to see the hearbeat and also hear it. It was very cool. The heart beat was around 170 he said and I asked if that was too high and he said it would drop down in the next couple of weeks. My only other concern was that after we left with the picture I noticed that it shows 7w6d on the bottom of it. My last one showed 6w5d which at the time I had it was exactly what I knew I was. Now this time I know I am actually 8 weeks and 5 days. I'm wondering if that is something the doctor types in and it could have been entered wrong. I'm just worried that it goes by the measurement of the baby which was 14.8mm and then if that's the case I'm measuring a week behind. Does anyone know if that is input by the doctor on an ultrasound?

Right now in your pg, they measure the baby and that gives the "general" age of the baby. All through your pregancy they will be "measuring" you at each appointment on the outside. The number of centimeters is suposed to corrispond to the number of weeks pg you are. I always measured 3 weeks ahead and I knew the exact day I conceived so we knew the due date was right!
What I'm trying to say is that it all depends on how fast the baby is growing. Some weeks they will shoot up fast and others they don't. Also, each baby is differant. Your dr is going by the measurment he took to give an approximate age of the baby. Try not to worry, which I know if hard. If there was a problem, the dr would have said something.
Thanks Chrissy! That's exactly what the doctors office said when I called. I'm going to try and relax until my next appointment, which is next Friday. I guess with all the frustrations of trying to get pregnant I never realized how stressful it would be once I was.

Hooray Lena! I am so glad you were able to hear the baby's heartbeat. How reassuring. I didn't know the answer to your question so it was helpful to me to hear Chrissy's response. I hope you can relax some. I know how stressful it can be. Please keep us updated with the next appointment.

Remember also at all U/S you are are the mercry of the person who is measuring your baby. Each persons preception of where the baby starts and ends is different. Also the farther you are the harder it is to get an acurate measurement based on your baby is different than every other baby.
Also the measurement of your tummy when they start measuring it is different too, I was always 2 wks ahead because of my being over wt but I was measuring small with the babys size via u/s. I knew he had a chance to be small because I was on high blood pressure meds. He was and was also 2 wks early.
Thanks Codedriver! My mom works for an ob/gyn and the doctors there all said the same thing, it's hard to get an accurate reading at this point. I'll just try to relax now.
Oh, and your son is so adorable! Congrats on his recent birth.
